Yay.

Well, I had my Tanglewood audition yesterday, and it SUCKED.  I hit the most horrendous traffic EVER coming into the city, and it took me over three hours to make a drive that usually takes 40 minutes.  I was the last person of the day and the audition pannel seriously almost LEFT because I was twenty minutes late.  (For those of you who don't know about the crazy competitiveness of the classical music world, a lot of times if you are late, audition pannels won't even hear you.) I had planned to get there super early and warm up a little so my audition was flawless.  But not only did I not have a chance to do that, but I also had the most tension in my body that I've ever had, just from sitting in that traffic for THREE HOURS, getting angry, pounding my fists, and occasionally letting out some screamed swear words.  So yeah, I did not feel that I sang well at all.  It was so far from my best, I can't even explain.  It just plain sucked.  I know the calliber of singer that they accept into Tanglewood, and I know I'm capable of performing at that calibur, but boy oh boy did I not do it at the audition.  Thankfully the pannel was really nice, very friendly.  But seriously, I can just about guarantee that I will NOT be accepted.  *Sigh*  I guess there's always next year, right?  If my audition wasn't so horrible that they put me on a list of people to never hear again.  (Again, for those of you not familiar with the business, they do actually do that.)  My next audition is Monday, for Britten-Pears.  Lets hope that one goes a little better, yes?

BUT, my day turned around because
ladymeg1 invited me out to some fun NY events, including a Glamour Magazine/Patrick McMullen party at Tahari in the West Village, a GQ event where we got some freebies, and  a Tribeca Grand event.  All of these were exclusive, invite-only  events. So I felt special.   Patrick McMullen took a picture of us at Tahari, (and told us we looked like Glamour Girls!) and it ended up on his famous website.  Apparently New York's top socialites are rated by how many times they show up on his web site (because his team takes pics at all of NY's most exclusive events).  So again, something cool that redeemed the day from the suckiness of my bad audition.

So, enjoy some pics:
Here's Megan and I looking fabulous:

Here are the pics Patrick McMullen took:

Here's another one of
ladymeg1 with some guy, which also made it to Patrick McMullen's site.  Don't you love her dress?  She got it from a designer she did a runway show for.

Of course when I got back to my car, which was all the way uptown, I had TWO parking tickets!  Ugh.  Parking meters that go until 10 pm?  On the upper east side?   *Sigh* Oh well.

Have fun in San Diego,
mechanyx!!!   ;)  We need to create a whole new generation of classical musicians who live like rock stars.
