It'd only been a couple of weeks, but Fandom seemed a whole other lifetime away. Haven was getting worse by the day -- not that Jak cared much about the state of the city -- and jobs were coming in hot and fast

//You meant 'grab a drink' mostly in a manner of speaking, I hope,// Jono mused as he made his way into the bar. It was a lovely place, really, if you could get over all of the nastiness that was going on outside. //Because, really, I'm not much of a drinker these days, mate.//
Yes, that was how he chose to greet Jak. It was a thing.
Odds were that he was going to just end up riding whatever drunken daze he could pick up from the other people in the bar anyway.
Jak seemed to have roughly that idea, and shrugged. Chances were he was never going to catch on to the 'Jono doesn't drink' thing in any way that related to the sentences coming out of his mouth, anyway. "Grab a drink, grab other people's heads while they're drinking..." he said, shrugging. "Start with 'grab a seat', I guess."
//Well, that much, I can do without protest,// Jono replied, grabbing himself a spot at the bar with a nod. //Been keeping busy, mate? Things back on the island aren't quite th'same with you gone.//
They weren't quite the same without a few people of note, really. But odds were low that Jak had invited him just so that he could make sad faces over a mug of something that he couldn't drink.
"Yeah. Things are kind of kicking into overdrive," Jak said, waving his own bottle of something-or-other - tasted like swamp water - around. "It's been a quiet afternoon, which means it's a fifty-fifty chance something's about to bite us in the ass."
Sound slightly less eager about that, Jak, please.
//Really, you could say things like that without sounding so pleased about the odds,// Jono noted, idly drumming his fingers on the countertop. //But then, I suppose it keeps you from getting rusty, mm?//
Truth be told, some part of Jono was kind of hoping for something to happen, too.
//Occasional action,// Jono noted, //is better than none, I suppose.//
He wasn't about to point out that he'd spent the pirahna invasion in his room, with his guitar, occasionally glancing out the window and shaking his head.
//So long as yer not bored, mate, that's what matters.//
"Jak," Torn said, sounding... urgent. "The Baron's set three bomb-bots on our tail. We're throwing everything we have at them, but if they get much closer, the hideout might be bust. I'm giving you their locations--"
Jono was pulling himself to his feet. Bomb-bots, in the grand scheme of things, sounded a bit higher on his list of priorities than sitting around and eyeing the booze, after all.
//Right behind you, mate. Just point me in th'right direction, hm?//
"Bomb-bots are big things. Kind of like crabs," Jak said, shoving his new Peacemaker attachment onto his Morph Gun. "Should be three headed this way from further down the harbour."
So, Jono mused, at least he'd know them to see them.
//Any weak points on those things that I ought to know about?// Some place to aim, at least, would be nice, though Jono certainly didn't want to take all of the fun for himself.
Well... that was almost like a plan, Jono mused, rolling his eyes and shaking his head a bit while following along.
He'd been given less to work with, in the past. And at least this time, it didn't look as though they were going to be fighting things on rickety walkways.
"Did I mention I got a new barrel for my Morph Gun?" Jak said, conversationally, as he leapt up into the air and jacked some poor guy's speeder right from under him.
Yes, that was how he chose to greet Jak. It was a thing.
Odds were that he was going to just end up riding whatever drunken daze he could pick up from the other people in the bar anyway.

After one afternoon, yes. He turned towards Jono to speak again--
--and his radio stirred to life, floating up into the air. "Ah. Bingo."

//Bingo,// he sighed. Really, he should have known that there were high odds that it would come to this, right?

"On it," Jak said, getting up. "You with me?"

As if Jak would let him, anyhow.
