Christmas was quiet and enjoyable. The Christmas Eve service was the first time my family and I have gone to church at the same time in quite a few weeks (I usually go later in the morning than they do).
I got my brother a dvd and a screwdriver with changeable heads that he needed. We gave my mom a year subscription to a magazine she likes, and my dad a new PC game (he likes real-time strategy and has been playing Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge for about a year now. But now he has Rise of Nations, Gold Edition. He's eating it up :)
I got $90 in checks, some McDonald's gift certificates, a toaster oven, a dvd (Equilibrium - great movie, I asked for it specifically), and the Horn of Valere. Yeah, the Horn of Valere. My dad is reading WOT for the first time. He's on The Great Hunt, and ran across a little holiday-ish curved horn that looks just like the one Rand is holding on the DK Sweet cover, so he got it and wrapped it for me as an inside joke. :)
My brother is handing off his laptop to me for $55. It's older than my precious Inspiron 9100; it's a Pentium III 800mhz. But that's the idea. It'll be a slightly more expendable one that I can carry in the field as I job-hunt; better than exposing my good one to low temperatures and stuff every day. It needs a new keyboard or something because some of the keys barely work, but I ordered that from ebay already, as well as a replacement for the dead battery. Still less than $150 total.
Earlier I called the hospital and finally got through to Special Care at the college of dentistry. They got my referral letter and the doctors I'll be seeing will know I need a crown, so they should be able to do it on January 12 as scheduled. And I can probably roll out to Louisville the next day. Next I need to call Matt and update him.
