Worn. Slap. Out.

Life has been CRAZY around here! November and December have proved to be the busiest months in forever... heck, since I gave up my business! For the most part, the house has stayed straightened (just don't open the fridge). We've had a steady stream of people coming through, so there's always been more incentive to keep everything in place. After the Olde Towne Christmas tour last weekend and the girls' holiday tea the past Wednesday, however, I gave up trying to stay on top of the house cause we've had lots of church responsibilities and a 4th floor full of kids (Mabry had a sleep-over two nights in a row). It felt good not to care for a couple of days! Anyway, Mabry had a BLAST baking, having a smaller tea party with just her besties and then going to Winter Wonderland down the street with them.

I've never been happier. Virginia is the best place we could have landed. Mabry and Fin are flourishing in church and school, Peyton loves his youth group and has just been upgraded to a rated player in chess (first rated tournament is this weekend). Jeff is enjoying his work, even though he didn't get the promotion we were told he'd get. He likes the people and they all seem to get along with very little drama. I have found a couple of groups of people that we fit with, friend wise (both in and out of church), and have even had the energy to shoot a few families here and there. Our neighborhood is amazing, too. Never thought I'd be able to say THAT.

Sure, the busy schedule is tiring and the house mighty get ignored for a few days while we recoup, but unlike the famous saying goes, cleanliness ISN'T next to Godliness. What we've been experiencing here is. The friends, the activities, the community. It's been heaven on earth. I've had to move out of my comfort zone to get it all going, but it was worth every awkward moment to reach this stage.

So, there. I made a post BEFORE the annual Christmas gift listing. :D
