How I Spent My Winter Vacation - By: Melanie

Ahhh... I'm feeling rested today. A good night's sleep in the CORRECT time zone!!

I have so much I want to say! But I don't know where to begin or how to get it all out. Meeting Troy and the kids was the BEST part of the whole thing. For seven years I've been a part of almost every detail in their lives... not just through Live Journal, but also hours and hours and hours of Yahoo Messenger. Right before I left, I started thinking about getting to see them, and I got all weepy. I think if I had met them any earlier, I wouldn't have appreciated it as much. They're all exactly as I expected them to be. And they let me love on them without thinking that I was some crazy friend of their mother's who was crossing a line. It was so great.

Best Ced Moment: When I impressed him by rockin' out on the drum kit. :D
Best Jas Moment: When we connected over being the only Steeler fans in the room.
Best Hannah Moment: When I secretly hung out with her after they were sent to bed.
Best Dave Moment: When he gleefully jumped to let me teach him the cheerleading move.
Best Violet Moment: When she told me that I was her favorite (as long as it didn't include aunts and uncles).
Best Frank Moment: When he said, "Okay, I'll do it" (after watching the other kids to the cheer moves).

And Troy? I didn't think he would be as much like Jeff as he is... he enjoyed being a part of our conversations (even leaving his own super bowl party to come upstairs and hang out with us for a bit). At one point, Jeney was like, "Don't you have GUESTS downstairs??". He was funny... though Nin says that he got that way after meeting Jeney. I don't doubt it.

Best Troy Moment: When I said his name he wigged out.

And NIN! Oh, wow... SO funny. I'm so glad she was able to spend the weekend with us. I mean, she WAS the weekend, since it was her client's condo and all. Normally, in my own set of friends, I'm the funny one... but this weekend was my weekend to relax and just have the funny brought to ME. The movie Burn After Reading was so much better when Nin delivered the key lines. We laughed so hard!

Best Nin Moment: "I thought you'd be concerned..."

If I write about Jeney, I'll just sound sappy and she'll make fun of me (as if I haven't given her enough amo already). There are three people in the world who know everything there is to know about me. She's one of them. And of the three, I think she's my biggest encourager. Getting to spend a whole weekened with her was just... so amazing. We couldn't be ANY MORE DIFFERENT if we TRIED. But what we have in common is enough to make it the perfect friendship.
