[Aella wasn’t much for using the journals, but after hearing of where people were being sent, unprepared, to fight, she really couldn’t just keep quiet. Who knows how many people were aware of how sick they could get out there. She’d rather not have to hear of any deaths by illness if she could help it.
So, after a long, grueling night of compiling things into neat lists, and then heading to the library to refresh her memory and create detailed drawings that morning, she‘ll awkwardly open her journal.]
From what I understand, this recent move by our captors is to send you to a rainforest in battle. Rainforests, as a whole, are hot, humid places where sickness is highly likely to take to a person, thanks to the environment and the many things that live and grow there. However, they are also nature’s cradle and are home to a multitude of cures and various preventatives and stimulants.
I’ve created a list of remedies you might find yourself in the local plant life. You might not have time to get to a doctor or be stranded, so it’s best to be prepared to know what you will need.
There are some things you should be particularly aware of:
Malaria, transferred by mosquitoes, is a tricky disease and can prove fatal. There is an herbal remedy I have listed, but it only works after it has set in. You should contact Dr. McCoy at the clinic about a medical treatment to prevent it. The disease can show symptoms anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks after infection, so I highly suggest speaking to him to avoid future problems.
Infection to cuts and scrapes are a great danger, and they should be cleaned thoroughly and treated immediately, no matter how small. The combination of the diseases found there and the heat and humidity speeding the infection along can be extremely dangerous.
Drinking water is going to be limited, do not drink from rivers or springs found there, and if you absolutely have to, boil it. You might end up with parasites if you don't.
Overall… take caution. If anyone does get ill when they return, please contact the medical staff immediately.
[After the message, She’ll be spending the rest of the day in the library, then later in the afternoon, returning to the clinic.]
