[Aella had been bored the past few days, reading up on Luceti and several books on medicine she’d found in the library. Though, when she comes across mention of a medical center in the…. Battledome, was it? She gets curious to go see what it’s like.

So today is a day for checking out the various parts of the village, explored already and otherwise ( Read more... )

Probably stuff from a lot of different worlds. Not all of us started out knowing how to use them, but since we're from different places, too, we can help each other out.

So the local doctors learn from each other? {Aella approves. sharing knowledge is the best way to better the medical field.]

That's right! All of us are working there because we want to help people, so it would be irresponsible of us to not be able to work all of our equipment!

Of course. It's best for a town's medics to work together, not divide the knowledge. Otherwise, people might not get the help they need when they need it.

Exactly! We all have to work together if we want to keep a whole village healthy. We don't have that kind of technology in my world, but it's made my job a lot easier now that I know how to use it.

Are you a doctor, too? [He can't think of many other reasons for her interest in the medical equipment.]

It seems so different from what I'm used to. I've never seen the like of it. [It's fascinating to think other worlds have advanced so far.]

Yes, I am. My specialty is imbuing.

They can look kind of strange, but they're mainly for making our work more efficient or safe. We can give more accurate diagnoses and better treatments with them...but medical knowledge is still the most important thing to have. [He wrinkles his nose in thought.] I don't think we have anything that helps with "imbuing", though...

Of course. No object or magic can replace actual medical training. [Huh. It was odd to hear someone not know of it, but... this was another world.] Imbuing is the act of making medicines and using natural energy ….. life energy, of a sorts to give it more potency or a desired effect. It's nothing without the proper herbs or ingredients, but it allows for faster recovery and for medicines that are naturally too weak to make a difference to help those with chronic illness. Basically, we supercharge what are normally regular herbal medicines.

You can also use that energy raw to heal a wound, but it’s something you should be careful with seeing as how it can ruin the tissue if used too often for every little thing.

Wow, we don't have anything like that here! A lot of us can use healing magic on wounds without causing tissue damage, but this is the first I've heard of being able to use it strengthen medicine! [Chopper is definitely impressed.] Are you working at the clinic?
