Miami also doesn't allow breeds like that, but our county does. It just...saddens and infuriates me that someone could look at my dog, my sweet, sweet, completely scaredy cat dog and want her dead.

Some people buried a kitten alive for fun the other day. Am I allowed to wish for their death?

I don't see why we need to wish for anyone's death? Wish the wrath of Thor would blow a tree over on their car, sure. Definitely wish that they are caught and punished to the full extent of the law, but violence will beget violence and we can't advocate animal rights if we go around threatening death at every turn. I hope the poor kitten is okay, that's pretty brutal. We found one covered in road tar last summer, and one who's leg had been removed with a knife. They're resilient little dudes though.

I used to dog sit for the world's cutest staffie. I know all about BSL breaking hearts.

No, the kitty died. Law enforcement found out but is friends with the kitten killers, so they didn't press charges.

My best friend reaaally wants to get a pit but her condo association won't let her. :(

Well, that's fucking terrible and someone should set that straight (non-violently).

I want 35465434565684542545 dogs but my cat would eat them all. She's pretty feisty. She'll move somewhere where she can have a puppy one day. :D

Not even cat-scratching violence? Because that tastes like justice to me. More Jason Todd style justice than Batman style justice, but...

She's stuck in her lease for another year at least, but she doesn't know where she wants to go or what she wants to do. You have a billion animals, what are some jobs people do that involve animals?

Jobs people do that involve animals that won't break your heart into 23458421254 pieces on a daily basis? Pet photography or maybe... drawing pictures of animals. Anything vet/animal services related is fucking traumatizing.

Right now her sister is training to be a dog trainer, but she doesn't want to do that. She says she wants to work in a zoo, but for basically every job there, she'd have to get another undergraduate degree. Currently she's a teacher and every time I suggest zoo education, she acts like she doesn't hear me so I don't think that's what she wants. She's starting volunteer at her local SPCA at the end of the week so we'll see how long that lasts before she's emotionally drained.

Ahahahaha SPCA is the most draining. Good luck, friend. If you want to work with animals, get some training and education, otherwise, you're doing more damage than good. It hurts a lot of people to hear that, but it's true. And I'm always leery of "training to be a dog trainer." It's not like painting a wall or changing a light bulb. Yes, you need training, but you always have to have ~a talent~ for it or you're doing more damage than good again. There are so many "tested training methods" out there that are total shit. Augh.

See, this is why I want to work for the ASPCA and Humane Society and World Wildlife Fund doing PR. Because I can help ALL THE ANIMALS but without the sadness. I just don't know what to say to help her though because like...she legit has no idea what to do with her life and the only thing she's qualified for is teaching and teaching is awful which I could have told her before she got a bachelors degree.

Yeppppp. Kids are like, the worst creatures. And this is coming from someone who likes creatures.

You're still going to get a lot of the sadness, bb <3. But you'll be awesome.

Kids are the absolute worst. And like, she taught freaking first graders.

No, no sadness. I'm Tony Stark, I save the world with my money.

idk, if she really, truly love animals, go to school become a vet tech, something like that. She needs to understand that it's sad, dirty business (literally dirty. I have been covered in pretty much any fluid or semi-fluid that comes out of a dog or a cat, and I've accidentally tasted most of them too), but if it's what she wants to do, then fucking do it.

Start volunteering in a shelter or whatever and if she likes it, go for it. She needs to see what it's like before she switches careers though. I've seen people make that mistake before. :|

Yeah, see, I could never do that. I can't even watch those damn commercials without becoming a sobbing mess. I'm just too sensitive. And I think she might be too? IDK. I just don't want her to be miserable forever and being a teacher is basically the most miserable thing ever.

Ahahah, it's both better and worse than the commercials. AT THE SAME TIME. It really depends on where you go though. With the right people, even the day you have to put 10 kittens down and they're looking at you with their sick little kitteny eyes isn't the worst day.
