The next day, after work, David comes into the Nexus as quickly as he can conveniently arrange.

He's looking for Tammie, the girl who might be his daughter.

((open thread, but David is distracted.))

Kevin's mostly distracted, too. He slams a door shut to somewhere that looked like a jungle with dinosaurs roaming around after a minute or two of contemplation and shakes his head.

"Like a needle in a fuckin' haystack, man. Maybe she's still hangin' around with that blonde kid..."

David writes down DINOSAUR JUNGLE on a legal pad, then tears off the sheet and tapes it to the wall next to the door.

"Maybe."

David pauses for a second.

"...who the fuck is 'Albert Wesker'?"

Kevin gives him a frank look.

"You're shittin' me, right?"

He opens a door through which loud trumpets blare and the arrival of King something-or-other is announced, then hastily shuts it.

"He's kinda the whole reason all this shit's HAPPENING."

David labels this door MEDEVIAL MEDIEVAL TIMES.

"That blonde girl from last night said he was her father. Name sounds familiar, but I can't place it."

Kevin shakes his head in disbelief ( ... )

David labels the door appropriately as he listens to Kevin talk.

He silently files all that away for later consideration, then opens another door. It leads to somebody's cluttered closet.

"So, yeah. Not a great guy."

Kevin closes another door and waves his hand in front of his face.

"New Jersey."

He stops and puts his hands on his hips.

"I mean--you said she's a smart kid, right? Maybe she stayed where she was, or she's lookin' for one of us."

That door gets labeled. No way the kid's in there.

David closes the door on the closet and shrugs. "Could be. Could be she ain't lost at all and already went back home.

"But if she's here, might as well try to find her."

Kevin nods.

"Sometimes the doors shift, and sometimes they just... poof, gone."

He looks through another door then hurriedly slams it.

"Ocean.

She may be a smart kid, but not even Eiko can figure the gears of this shit out once someone gets trapped here, so she's probably still kickin' around..."

"I hope not. Fuckin' freaks."

David writes OCEAN on his pad and sticks it up next to the door.

"My kid or not, I find her and somebody's doin' shit..."

Kevin makes a gruff sound in the affirmative.

"Wouldn't put it past the bitches here. At least there's the AV field."

He shakes his head, and, not paying attention, opens another door; he looks up briefly, before an arm lashes out immediately and grabs his collar. It almost pulls him in, but he manages to kick whoever it was back and slam the door--there's an overwhelming stench of rot and the deafening moaning is cut off.

He looks over.

"How about YOU open some doors for a while, champ?"

"You're doin' fine."

Kevin just glares, then mumbles something about being a prick, and moves down the line a little more carefully.

"Part of me doesn't feel right about sendin' that kid back."

David grins real wide when Kevin can't see him, then moves to watch the next door.

"Which kid?"

"Blonde one. Wesker's supposed midget."

Another door gets closed.

"Italy.

Part of me can't get over the idea we'd be sendin' her back to her... you know. Who knows what she may already been infected with, for that matter."

"She was annoying."

This constitutes the whole of David's spoken opinion on the issue.
