On Wednesday I had my first kitchen fire. I suppose I use that term loosely I suppose. I really just caught a napkin on fire (on a toaster oven heating element), but I burned my knuckle and melted a bit of my shoe trying to put it out before I just let it burn out on the floor. It was amusing and not terribly traumatic or problematic.
Today I experienced my first kitchen explosion. There was a pyrex sitting on the stove and the wrong burner got turned on to heat water for coffee. The kitchen got COVERED in shards of broken glass, but there were no injuries. Also, it was a pyrex that I an easily go buy a replacement for. All in all, not the best christmas morning event, but we are fortunate that the only casualties were the pyrex and the kitchen floor mat (molten glass melted into it).
Merry Christmas eh?
