Looks like a new transition

[Fenris is prowling through his house like a caged and very angry animal. The facts, as he views them, are these:

He doesn't know where he is.

His armor, his weapons, even his markings - all gone.

Wherever he is, the architecture is strange beyond anything he's seen, the furnishings completely unfamiliar, and the strange images strewn everywhere ( Read more... )

[the Arishok's interest has been piqued. He tilts his head once, before carefully lining up the handset.]

Arcanum spoken, here? Are you a soldier of Tevinter, then? [Ready the shitlist; he's about to add a name. (Maybe.)]

[Fortunately, the Arishok happens to speak in a quiet moment, when Fenris has paused for breath and is looking for something else particularly offensive to break. This enables Fenris to hear the voice coming from the unfamiliar device lying forgotten on the ground.

He picks it up, cautiously. It doesn't seem magical, but whatever it is...he has no idea how it works.] I am no soldier. [There's a bit of distortion through the device, but something about that voice seems...vaguely familiar, regardless.] What is this - thing? What is this place?

I have no answers for you. I am no Ashkaari or Ariqun to know such things. It is not my role.

If you are no soldier, are you one of the bas'saarebas?

[Well, in order to hear better, Fenris discovers the correct way to hold a phone. That's something.

But he's more preoccupied with what he's hearing. With the voice speaking Qunari, it's easier for him to place it. But...here?] Is this...

Arishokost?

...I am no mage. I can assure you of that.

[Is that...a child? What is going on?]

...where am I? [His tone has softened. Very slightly.]

This is...Mayfield. ...Isn't it? [Now she's confused. OH WAIT.]

Oh, um, are you new here? I'm sorry, I was confused.

I...would not know. Is it?

I did just wake up here, yes.

[Thanks to a few other people, Fenris has worked out how the phone functions by trial and error. Or at least the listening and speaking parts, anyway.

His temper has not improved much, however.]

What?

That was a lot of yelling, you know. It's pretty annoying.

I was unaware anyone else could hear it.

"Hello? Hello? I hear crashes, is someone hurt, or just throwing a tantrum?"

Reply

unasked_for April 2 2011, 18:30:46 UTC
[Fenris opens his mouth to deny that it's a tantrum in any way, that this is a perfectly reasonable reaction to suddenly being dragged to a strange place and stripped of everything...but finds he can't do it. It's both a perfectly reasonable reaction and a tantrum, and he can't really argue with it when called upon it.

It's not a pleasant realization, and he reins himself in slightly out of sheer self-consciousness. The fact that a tantrum is justified doesn't make it any less childish of a response.]

It's...nothing. [His voice is a bit grudging, all the same. Childish or not, smashing things had been rather therapeutic under the circumstances.]

[Fortunately, Fenris has already figured out the basic workings of a phone from other conversations.] I have picked it up. [Any illusion that he was speaking from a distance probably came from his muttering in his own embarrassment.]

This...thing. What is it?

Breaking Hiatus to tag new house-mate. [Action] lacking_12 April 2 2011, 18:11:13 UTC
[If Fenris slows down enough, he may find a rather terrified looking blond girl, still in her nightgown, standing in a doorway watching.]

[Fenris hasn't made himself any threat to her person yet, so Bolverk remains untapped, however she still is rather scared of this raving lunatic all the same.]

[Somewhere in his rampage, Fenris spots her, and stops. However, the look he's giving her isn't friendly.

Her presence in the pictures suggests she's got something to do with this. Fenris' first guess is that she's the mage who brought him here, and that is not a position Noel wants to be in right now.

He stalks over to her, imposing enough in his rage to seem to loom despite the fact that he's probably no taller than she is.] What have you done, mage? [His voice is low and dangerous...but he makes no move to attack just yet. Even assuming she's the one responsible, he can't afford to kill her out of hand - not until she undoes whatever has been done.

And she will. Fenris will make sure of that.]

[Fenris likely does loom...Noel is not a tall woman. However, his proximity causes Bolverk to appear of it's own accord. Noel crosses the guns in front of her, now seeming much less terrified.]

You're obviously from a different world, if you think I'm a mage. I am Lieutenant Noel Vermillion of the Novis Orbus Librarium, and you and I have both been kidnapped to a strange world that has us now trapped.

P-please stand down or I will be forced to defend myself. [Well, she doesn't sound COMPLETELY in control...but the fact remains that the girl probably knows how to use those weapons.]

[Lieutenant...that's a military rank. And she seems to be denying that she's a mage, as well. That, as much as Noel's claim that she's as trapped as he is, calms Fenris slightly...though he's not immediately prepared to take her word for it.] Then answer me. Is this the Fade?
