A new life for the intellect.

I haven't updated about my new life at flagler yet? Wow. I'm slacking.
Life has been... hectic. Fun, but hectic. I have a love-hate relationship with my classes. ASL is extremely tough, American Lit is challenging, Speech is surprisingly entertaining, Intro to Mass Communications is VERY interesting, and World Religions is an easy A. I've got quite a load of work this semester compared to a lot of the people here, and, oddly enough, not many people took advantage of dual enrollment at this school. While I'm happy that I did take these, it screws me out of a lot of plans considering the amount of studying I have... such is the life of a college student I suppose. I've met some really awesome people here though, and almost everyone is pretty liberal and accepting of everyone, which is a great thing. There's really no reason for me to look back now, to be quite honest. St. Augustine has so much culture. I've never LIVED in a town as diverse as this, even if the school I go to is small in comparison. It's a nice feeling.

In these past few weeks alone, I've lowered my tenency to preceive things in a biased eye, and I've learned to keep my expectations the same... I've already become a bit more wide-eyed, just by experience alone. Hmm. I bought a $7 bike a few days ago, and although the tire tubes need to be replaced, I shall now be able to get around town without constantly walking around. The rains have been hell here... it's been raining for about 2 weeks straight, no lie. During any heavy downpour here, the streets flood and cars become submerged... pretty frightening. Luckily my car is safe in a nicely designed parking garage about 5-10 minutes from campus by foot. Unfortunately, the weather has given me a nice sore throat and a bad cough. None of you guys need to know this at all. Please forgive my stream of conciousness. I feel like I've left everyone out of the loop, please disregard.

The nightlife/live music here is amazing. Club Fusion and Marathon Monday rules, Cafe Eleven rules (5th year birthday parties after a concert complete with a dance party, flaming cupcakes and people spraying champagne at you like it's new years are amazing), Rock N Bean rules, the bums rule, street walking rules, running at night in fear rules, flagler college cafeteria food SUCKS, bike riding rules.

If you can't tell, I'm thrilled to be here. I'm not particularly thrilled with dorm life, though... sharing a bathroom with 4 other guys isn't exactly my thing. It's pretty disgusting actually. I'll be ready to move off-campus in another month or two, I can already feel it. Sometimes I feel like the drama here is kind of like high school, but I tend to keep out of it, as I always have. There's no need for me to get involved with people that talk about the latest hookups or delve into the personal lives of people they barely even know. The world is too complex. People have more depth then that (or so I hope).

Stressed with work though I may be, I'm content with my life for the first time in a long time and I have so much more confidence then I've ever really had... it's nice. I feel so much more at ease!

I'll leave you with some pictures from college life... I have yet to take many of my own so be prepared for those at a later date.
