Name: Jun Ushiro
Name of Canon: Bokurano
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: AU (but canon, since it's Bokurano, but still AU… Eh. Yeah.)
Reference:
Here Canon Point: N/A
Setting:Take fifteen kids. Take a mecha that's 500 meters tall. Take battles on life and death that eventually leads to the creation of infinite universes. Add a good dose of tragedy, crapsack world and human drama, and you have Bokurano in a nutshell. If you're forced into a 'game' where you have to fight to save the world at the expense of your own life and you have no choice in the matter… Would you give up or see it through? The question is… Would you like to play a Game?
Personality: Anime canon Ushiro Jun is a complicated boy, but being the last pilot of Z-Earth, he's undergone quite the character development along the ride. He starts off as a sullen, withdrawn boy with bouts of random acts of violence, directed towards his little sister Kana. He abuses her with kicks and blows whenever he feels frustrated or angry, which happens quite a lot. He doesn't really befriend any of the other kids, but rather keeps to himself, or gets into arguments when he mistreats Kana.
One big difference from anime, manga and novel canon is that the AU Jun does not have a sister. He lives alone with his physically and sexually abusive father and a mother who has perfected the art of see no evil, hear no evil. He still lashes out towards people, but as there is no Kana in his life, the violence is rather directed towards kids in the neighborhood and authority figures, such as teachers in school. He's almost desperate to find something that makes his life worth something, which leads to him not always making the right choices; he's already been drinking, smokes on a regular basis and has even dabbled into drugs from time to time, mostly weed. He isn't aware of it himself, but it's really the wounded child's silent scream for help that makes him act like that, in a way of telling the world that it should see him, see that he isn't feeling well and that he needs help. This is however where the hedgehog's dilemma comes to play, to use a phrase from Evangelion; he wants people to get close enough to see, but at the same time he immediately puts his shackles up whenever someone dares to come close to him.
Deep down inside Jun is truly vulnerable, easy to get depressed and at times difficult to get along with. He doesn't like talking, unless it’s a person he truly likes, or even better yet, trusts, but when he does… Well, let's say the boy usually gravitates between being emotionally disturbed and self doubting, to being a complete and utter dork who cracks jokes that are mostly funny to himself only, and he lacks a basic understanding in how to carry a conversation properly. He is, however, warmhearted somewhere deep inside, and even if he doesn't show it most of the time he can be a good friend. Maybe not the best friend to have around, but he does care, and he's loyal, almost to a fault, once he's attached himself to someone.
He's also taking baby steps into puberty and as such, he's struggling with what kind of teenager he will become, what kind of man… He has sexuality issues a mile wide, but for now he'd rather think of himself as asexual rather than anything else.
Jun is actually quite tired of life, and has some very strong suicidal tendencies, much more evident here than in the anime or manga, which are the only canons I'm comfortably familiar with. In the anime, when it's his time to die, he is tired, ready to let go of his life, but mostly because he's reached that point of conclusion with himself. All of his friends are dead, and he knows that if he wins this battle, the final one, he's finally able to rest, knowing that the horrors everyone's been going through has finally been put to an end. He dies with the hint of a smile on his face, and he expresses verbally that he's happy it's finally over. AU Jun still hasn't reached that state where he can die knowing he made a difference and be at peace with himself and his fate. Instead he still struggles, trying to keep those thoughts at bay.
Abilities and Weaknesses: Jun might be difficult to approach, but once you manage to get behind his walls, he can prove a good friend, loyal and intelligent. He's brave when the situation requires it, maybe not as brave as fellow pilot Anko Tokosumi, but he's not one to step down easily either. He is stubborn and sees things through; in the anime his battle spanned over almost two full days, and he fought alone. In the manga he was told he had to annihilate an entire world's population by 'hand', in other words have the mecha - Zearth - nuke the entire planet until no one was left alive. Sure, he suffered one big heroic breakdown, throwing up and panicking, but he pulled through. In the novel, he - even though he lost his battle - he faced up against an alternate version of himself once his battle came around.
On the flipside, he has a horrible temper and is quick to resort to violence as he has difficulties expressing himself otherwise. He's shy and to prove to people that he's anything but, he's quick to lash out and talk down to others. He has a severe case of 'hates to be touched', at least this AU version, and if you're an adult, chances are he won't trust you farther than he can throw you. He's quite the nerd, and would rather stay cooped up with a Physics book than go out and exercise. Coupled with low stamina and weak health, he really isn't one you'd want on your team during P.E. class. He doesn't really have any friends, rather is either bullied or ignored in school, part of which is his own fault; he has a habit looking at people as if he believes himself a lot better than everyone else. That, coupled with his temper and violent outbursts really does little to endear him to people.
Inventory: Glasses, a cell phone, a small handheld gaming console, snacks.
Appearance: Short, scrawny and rather androgynous looking, Jun is a boy who's yet to reach puberty properly. His voice hasn't dropped yet and with his big glasses he looks rather bookish, one might even say nerdy. He has two parallel scars on his face, close to his left eye. The scars is all a part of AU!Jun and won't show on any official picture. Picture here:

OC/AU Justification ;
If AU, How is Your Version Different From Canon, and How Will That Come Across? Being Bokurano, canon and AU kind of intertwine, but to put it like this… This incarnation of Jun Ushiro has no sister. In novel verse, his father is abusive towards his mother. This is not the case here, not quite, but the man is abusive towards Jun himself instead, quite badly so. Mostly sexually, and has been for longer than Jun can even remember, but also physically. Once he smashed a glass at Jun's face, resulting in the scarring described in the appearance section, just to mention something.

I don't believe it. It's not logical, it's not… A pale faced bespectacled boy with dark hair in slightly greasy bangs stared out over the vast, mostly unpopulated city. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his pants and started to walk aimlessly down the road. The AI woman had given him information upon information, but it still sounded like a fairy tale. A science fiction story. Then again, he guessed it was at least more believable than the strange dreams he kept having about humongous mecha and those idiots in P.E. class. Those dreams wanted to tell him that he knew them, was even friends with them. He wasn't sure what kind of crack he had been smoking to have those dreams, but he probably must have gotten more of that to imagine this. At least this felt concrete. Real. He ran his hands over one sleek pillar, wondering absentmindedly what material it was made of, and if the material was even available on Earth. If it wasn't… How come he dreamed it up? Because surely, this was all a dream… His mind screamed to him that it couldn't be real, it wasn't logical, there was no such thing as the spacetime continuum, it still hadn't been scientifically proven, right?
Jun stopped frozen for a moment. The pillar opened up. He stared at the man sized empty space inside, and curiosity got the better of him. He looked around, making sure no one was watching - of course no one was. There was no one around. And what was up with that anyway? A city this large ought to be crawling with people. This one wasn't. It felt almost comfortable, had it not reached this level of plain creepy - and then stepped inside. His eyes widened in horror; there was this strange surge and he felt himself almost leaving his body, he couldn't explain it in any other way, before the pillar opened up again and he stumbled outside, vertigo enough to pull him down to his knees where he dry heaved for maybe half a minute before he managed to collect himself enough to look around. He… Wasn't at the spot he had been before stepping into the pillar. Not by a long shot.
… It's not logical.

Joke's gone on long enough, don't you think?
First of all, I have a Math test coming up. You think I have time to waste here? No, didn't think so.
Either someone make me wake up from this psychedelic dream, or just put me on the first space ship or whatever home!
And if this is real…
Don't think I don't see through all this! It's an alien abduction right? So. I know the deal with those. You're gonna experiment on me and make me into some damn clone or cyborg or something. Well, forget it!
Take me home, or I'll find a way to blow this fucking place up, okay? Then you can kiss your stupid experiments and everything else good bye.
