Fourth Dream//Video
[The wind blows through the fields and Naoya stares over them, dissatisfied. No, not dissatisfied--he was upset. Hurt. He'd given his very best, hadn't he...?
Did he have to give up something more? There was only one thing...
'Brother?' Naoya turns, staring at the man who's come out to him in the fields. The man is younger, a little shorter, a little leaner, with hauntingly familiar blue eyes. 'Brother, are you alright? Why did you call me here?'
Naoya hesitates for only a moment, before lunging forward, snarling. There's a rage rising in him born of jealousy and pain. 'If the Lord wants blood...then I'll give him this most precious sacrifice--!'
It doesn't take more than a moment--his brother doesn't even fight back, just weeps as he bashes his skull in. And it only takes a moment more for Naoya to stare at his hands, eyes widening as he brings them up to his face.
This was what the Lord wanted, wasn't it? Blood...there's so much blood, staining everything. His hands, his hair, his face, the ground...everywhere. Too much...
'...Who'd want a sacrifice like this? ...Brother...' He didn't have any time to think about it. Not now--there was the searing light of Metatron's wings, and the first crack of his voice. The conversation is blurred, indistinct but--
He'd done what He'd wanted! He'd given up everything! This wasn't fair. Something reached out for him...and as Naoya's hair and face drained of color, as his eyes matched the blood staining everything, he buckled. He didn't have enough voice to scream.
Why did it have to be this way? Why couldn't this contest have never happened?
This wasn't fair. He'd only...he'd only wanted to do what he was asked. And now he'd lost everything. ]
[Naoya bolts awake, in a cold sweat. He pants for a while, hand to his head as if in terrible pain...before he notices the dreamberry and snarls, reaching over and shutting it off.]
