Warnings: Headcanon. Also, blood and gratuitous weirdness.
Dream Effects[Optional] An overwhelming sense of not really being there--dispassionate and disconnected. There's a feeling of nostalgia, and then the dream ends with a sort of grim anticipation.

[It's raining, and he's not really sure how he feels about it. To be sure, the blood washes cleanly from him in rain like this, but it doesn't really come off, does it? He snorts, shaking his head--his hair is longer, and his haori is over a high school uniform. He's staring down at the body of a fool...and the faded marks of a ritual circle being washed away around him. They hadn't been done properly...which meant that which had been summoned had turned on the summoner.

"...Cerberus..." He knows which demon, because that same demon is staring at him. Despite being the hound of the underworld, he looks more like a monstrous white lion...with a dragon's tail. The demon growls at him, but Naoya just snorts.

"You're not really so stupid as to think you can win, right? Just accept the contract. You'll survive longer."

Cerberus roars, and charges--

And the scene shifts. He stares out over a vast plain, and sighs, singing soft words to himself. He knows he's not supposed to, and as he runs a hand through his brown hair, he's just aware that he shouldn't get caught. He knows he's not supposed to, but he doesn't understand why--the people who come when he sings are always friendly. Hevel can't seem to see them, and he can't speak of them to either of his parents. So he's out here, soaked through from rain, and hoping no one comes looking for him yet.

He hears the rustling as Mothman approaches, and he laughs as he hears his name called out--

Once more, Naoya stands...he's climbed the tower in Roppongi, and he looks down. He's not alone up here, and humans aren't alone down there. He knows that so many of those human-shaped beings are demons...They've been here for so long, that they blend in. Urban legends and rumors tell of them, but most people dismiss them as non-existent.

"Enjoying the view?" Naoya doesn't turn at the voice, and doesn't smile. He knows who it is, and it's still frustrating...he too, was affected by the breaking of Babel. He can't sing the old words, and he wouldn't know which ones would work. This one comes and goes as he pleases. Irritating...and it's been irritating for millenia.

"Wondering when they all became blind while I wasn't looking."

"You were part of making them that way, Naoya." He does turn at that, giving Loki a flat look.

"I didn't do anything but nudge them. I never made them decide science couldn't coexist with the supernatural."

"But that's their nature, Na-chan--" Loki cuts off as Naoya's geta goes hurtling past his head. He'd gotten good at dodging, much to Naoya's displeasure. "Anyway, you're getting soaked by the rain. You humans are so fragile...you're going to die early in this life, you keep that up."

"I'm not going to melt because I got a little wet. What do I look like, the wicked witch of the west?"

There's a long pause, and Naoya makes an irritated noise.

"Loki, don't even think about it."

"Aww, I had the lines ready and everything. Anyway, why are you standing in the rain? There are windows. Inside!"

Naoya doesn't answer for a while. The rain doesn't wash off the blood-

(Cerberus hadn't even reached him before it had fallen, body frozen and then shattered. Naoya had merely brushed the shards of ice aside with his umbrella before walking on. All the evidence of why this had happened was gone now, washed off with the rain, but the memory didn't leave)

--But it was soothing. He'd been told once that the rain were tears...and even though he knew Cassiel wept for all those who had fallen, he also knew that the rain wasn't His.

"It makes things bloom. It's time to finally begin."]

[Naoya rolls over, staring at his dreamberry. What the hell was that? Christ.]

...Tch. What a pain...[click.]
