We aren't here to debate the debate. We're here to debate what the communty's info lists as the subject of debate. Here, I'll show it to you:

"This is where you discuss why you are or are not Straight Edge. Everyone is welcome. If you are not familiar with Edge, feel free to join anyway."

So, are these statements pro-edge, or anti-edge?

They're neither. In turn, they aren't constructive for this community. They act as attempts to constrict the discussion that this community was intended to catalyze.

So no, you're not gravely mistaken. It was debate. But it wasn't the debate this community was created to host.
