Hey,

Apologies for posting in the comments section. I was mainly posting there because I hadn't worked out how to put anything on the main journal. Sorry about that guys!

Anyway, I'm neither straight edge or 'crooked edge' (we have a consortium where I live called anti-edge..never heard of the crooked term before). I totally respect people who take to the edge. I personally wouldn't ever become edge because I don't think I know enough about the culture and I like to have a drink every now and again.

Could somebody explain this idea of 'crooked edge' to me please? Where I live, in the grand old land of England, there's a group of people who started up 'anti-edge' / aXe to rebel against fashioncore kids who become edge just for the image it portrays. There are a lot of people where I live, 'scene kids' as it were, who claim to be edge and preach about it one minute, then the next, you'll catch them getting drunk, smoking and having promiscuous sex (well, I don't literally catch people having sex, but there's talk of it). I don't get it? They do it to make themselves look good, when in fact, after completely going against the edge, they look less 'cool' than they were before and people think they're complete losers. It has no logic!

To the comment people were making about edge kids wearing X's on their hands..I personally don't disagree with it because it's usually only at shows when they X up. It's not like they're just randomly going out to meet their friends or whatever and deciding to get their marker pens out (well, this doesn't happen where I live anyway). I think it's good that people are proud to live a clean life. Why not let others know? It's not like drunk people don't show off about being absolutely wasted, is it? And smokers, they do it in front of everybody, so what's the problem with having X's on your hands? Nothing in my opinion.
