eh, i gotta disagree with you on that one. People just like to say that because they have one not so pleasant encounter with an edge kid or two. statements like that are just a generalization, which really isnt fair. Here in South Florida, for the most part, the straight edge kids or even the crews are full of some of the nicest people ever. If ya take the time and actually hang with em, or even have a conversation with them you'll see what i mean. Sure, they dont condone the things that others do but i doubt their gonna hold you for it.
and for the most part,any REAL straight Edge person doesnt go on some preaching rampage about his or her edge. you really only see that in bands or even in interviews about the straight edge culture. Its not like if you pull out a cigarette and start smoking their gonna be like "ohh thats fucked up blahbalbhlahblah" anyone with any sense at all would know that thinking that way is ridiculous.
however, it is a belief that they do hold strong ya know. like in the end..being straight edge really is all these kids have. their viewed as underdogs in the scene and really only have their edge and one another sot thats why ya gotta understand why some are more militant about it than others.
i mean if your gonna be a dickface and have the balls to make fun of em for being edge and then blow smoke in their face or something you deserve to get the shit kicked out of ya for it.
its just funny how kids bitch about it whenever they hear about some straight edge kids beating the fuck out of some douche who had the nerve to disrespect something that they hold so true.
why disrespect someones beleif? its almost as your making fun of a black family for having African tribal masks hung on their walls to represent their culture.
i dont really consider drinking, smoking, doing drugs, and having promicuous sex to be an ideal or beleif.
i thinnk that being edge just shows character. it shows that you have class, that you have standards, and morals.
like i said before when your striaght edge it just means you have your head where it should be is all.

i became edge because i thought it would have a positive impact in my life.
but it hasn't. being edge is just another trend.
and edge people are real assholes about it. i haven't met them 'nice edge kids' you speak of.
im tired of having people tell me what's edge and whats not.
i don't need 3 x's to tell me what to do with my life.

when it comes down to it being straigh edge is a personal thing. no one should tell you how to be edge, but if you are. you should mean it.

I hate yet to meet a fake, but I'm sure they're out there. Idiots & fakes have made it a trend. You'll know who the fakes are when they turn 21.
