reading some back entries, i felt inspired to write a few things.
but first off, i want to say that i am not straight edge, i drink, i smoke, i do pot, if i ever get the chance to have sex, i will. i eat meat, i could never be veg. so you kind of know where im coming from.
secondly. and this doesn't realy have anything to do with straight edge, but: technically, being a vegetarian is bad for you. well, if you are a dietician and study proteins and complex proteins (what you need) you can properly be a vegetarian. but, if you just decide that you won't eat meat, you probably aren't fulfilling your protien needs. if you have taken biology, you know that the smallest parts of your body are made of protein. so, it is imparitive that you have complete proteins, which are, ohmigod, found in MEAT!! aaahhh!! what a koinkidink!!!
thirdly.
for all you straight edge kids out there: more power to you
for all you non-straight egde kids: more power to you
for all you in-betweeners: more power to you.
i know this is a community for debate, and i encourage that. i am not saying to stop debating it.
so, having said that. i just want to ask one question: Why does it matter?
why do you have to put people down because of the decisions they do or do not make?
just because you decide to, say, be straight-edge, does not mean that you are better in any way than the girl next to you who smokes a bowl everyday or they guy across from you that gets drunk every friday. nor do their decions to do that make them better than you. we all make decisions. every day. and we do not look down upon others for making different decisions. i mean, do you look down on the guy who buys generic toilet paper when you buy that Ripple whatchamacallit really cool toilet paper? no! do you look down on people who decide to buy used cds instead of more expensive, new ones? no! so what gives you the impression that you are better than someone just because you decide not to do drugs/alcohol/sex?
