I'm throwing a few things together tonight because we're spending Saturday and most of Sunday in Lyon. We were going to take the TGV, but opted for the train instead since it's cheaper. The only downside is that it will take us about five hours instead of two. But I've recently downloaded a bunch of new music to my iPod (I've taken a stronger-than-normal liking to jazz as of late), so that will keep me happy for the trip. And Dramamine. Mmm.

Valentine's Day is less than a week away. That came up quickly. I've never really been a huge fan of Valentine's Day based on principle (you should show someone that you care every day, not just one day out of the year), but I guess you should just show it even more on Valentine's Day than you do regularly.

The week after next, my parents are coming to spend some time in Paris with me. February vacation is two weeks away and my birthday (conveniently) falls during the vacation. It will be nice to "get away" for a week. Josh is sending my birthday gift over with my parents so we don't have to worry about it getting lost or stolen going through customs. I have no idea what he's gotten for me; whatever it is, though, it's bound to be nice. His birthday is a week after mine, so his gift will go home nice and safe with my parents. I would die if anything happened to it.

One thing that's nice about being here is that it's not bitterly cold like it has been in the States. Here it's a solid 50, grey-skies-with-drizzle every single day. No snow, nothing. The one time it did snow, it was for twenty minutes in the morning and had melted two hours later. So I hope everyone's keeping warm and that nobody is getting sick.
