A - Phone.
[Spy is having difficulty with his accent. Sometimes it feels completely natural, and other times he feels as if he's slurring his words and switches to an American accent to sound comprehensible.]
I 'ave only been 'ere for a few weeks, zhere is no way zhat I-- Or maybe-- Does anyone know who I am? I am zhe RED Spy, oui? Not-- Not-- There can't be a way, it's not possible, I haven't married anyone and I don't have kids and--
Merde. What's going on here?
B - Action; around the park and Mitchell Road.
[He's clicking his cigarette case open and closed. He's craving nicotine, but being the picky smoker he is, he has to smoke a certain brand--
But there are foreign brands in here. Not American at all. Not his brand, not at all-- but maybe it is? Why else would they be in here? He's too wary to touch them, but he keeps staring at them, occasionally glancing up to make sure he doesn't run into anything.
Everything at home set up different flags in his head; the bed was familiar, he'd been sleeping there ever since he moved in with his wife-- but he doesn't have a wife, it would have been too risky to marry Scout's mother, he didn't want to bring her near the war. The smells were familiar, from the breakfast his wife had made him to the faint scent of nicotine in the house. But the smoke smelled like American garbage, not the kind he smokes. Or was it?
He escaped the house to try and avoid the conflicting signs, to escape the confusion. But with the mix of drones and droned prisoners, he began to feel even more confused. His next door neighbor, he'd known him his whole life, they went to the same high school and college and even went to work with each other everyday. But he was a RED Spy, not some office lackey, wait--
There was also an inkling of excitement in him, knowing the date. Independence Day! It meant fireworks and picnics and days at the beach--
Merde, what was he thinking? American holidays are disgusting. Shuddering, he clicks his cigarette case shut again, trying not to get too caught up in his thoughts.]
