Derek Mix, the "Maybe" File

Apr 19, 2008 13:44

This is mainly for ls_silence's curiousity but also a general music share post. This is the 'maybe' file of the Derek Reese mix, songs that almost made it along with my thoughts behind them.

Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas - This was me trying to give the mix a bit of a retro feel but this song will always belong to Supernatural in my heart

Down With The Sickness - Disturbed - It was a bit too hard for the mix

The Pretender - Foo Fighters - I had to narrow down to one Foo Fighter song, so this had go go

Left Behind -Slipknot - Again, the sound was a bit too hard but the lyrics were perfect

Block of Wood - Carbon Leaf - The sound just did not fit in with the mix but I adore the lyrics for pure S/D selfish reasons

I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred - I had to choose between this and Sexyback

Specialist - Interpol - This was in nearly the last draft but I just couldn't find a good spot to fit it into the mix

Battle Without Honor or Humanity - Kill Bill Soundtrack - I *adore* this piece but it ended up being to iconic to Kill Bill

I Like The Way You Move - Bodyrockers - Sexyback took this spot

Spread Your Machine - Goldfrapp - For the Camaron/Derek shippers, but it just didn't fit in the end

Metamorphosis One - Philip Glass - BSG folks will remember this as the piece playing when Kara & Helo visit her Caprica apartment, the Chopin piece took it's spot

Cheer Up Boys - Foo Fighters - For future John, Derek and Kyle, but had to go down to one Foo Fighter song

Pain Redefined - Disturbed - Great lyrics but, again, a bit too harsh

Now or Never - Godsmack - This was nearly in the final but could not find a good spot in the line up for it in the end

Right Here, Right Now - Fatboy Slim - A bit too club and not enough action, but adore the song

This Aint A Scene, Its An Arms Race - Fall Out Boys - I adored this song for the mix, but it just had to go for mix size reasons

music, scc
