[Harshly. She may not like violence, but war has always been a constant presence in her life and something that was important to her family.]

It isn`t a matter of morals. It`s a matter of genetics.

Hardly. Murder's been around long before people started mucking about with their own bloodlines. Evolution doesn't take a course to support this sort of massive blood-letting, that'd be counter-productive.

I don`t mean manufactured genetics. From the moment of conception, your entire life has been planned out for you by the very DNA that makes up your body.

Soldiers have no choice but to fight and draw blood. It`s in their genes. They will always be predispositioned towards violence. It`s a scientific fact. It has nothing to do with God.

Bullshit. [He laughs, shaking his head.]

Don't blame fate on your genes. Both things can be defied. There is always a choice, if not always a good one. That is the very meaning of free will.

I`m not implying that free will doesn`t exist. I`m only stating that the choices we make are defined by who we are. It`s as simple as that.

Believe it or not. It`s what I`ve studied my entire life.

Have you ever tried to disprove it? Who we are is defined by the choices we make. Whether we accept responsibility for our actions, or try to put all responsibility elsewhere by claiming it's out of our control, it remains the same.

It certainly does remain the same. No matter how much we argue. [Smiles.] Yes, but what causes us to choose those very actions that `define` us? What is it that brings us together with our family, the people who no matter how hard you may try to distance yourself from, will always be the people who influence our choices the most?

Genes.

Despite what you may believe, genetics can`t be taken for granted. Without them, even a smartass like you wouldn`t be alive. [She`s teasing of course.]

My existence has absolutely nothing to do with genetics.[Dryly.] I could be used as a means to disprove evolution, but it's not really that simple.

I highly doubt that, though you aren`t the first to say that.

Cause I keep a copy of the Bible in a cozy spot on my bookshelf.

There's a library. Or you could ask around. It's so difficult to do research, I know.

I have other things that require my attention here in my lab. I have no intention of wandering out to the library to look at a bible just to have you spout off more nonsense.

Goodbye.
