today. geesh. my dad came over and ate breakfast and took mark to his house. it's always nice to see him. then i was scheduled to work the evening shift at my job, but was able to negotiate my way in to working 11-4. :-) that meant that i could go to the taste of salem tonight and be there to support kyle as he played solo acoustic and sung.
taste of salem had a bunch of restaurants, but altogether it seemed like there was sandwiches, bbq, and pizza. not complaining though... everything i had was really good. then kyle performed. just before he went on, they told him that he would only be able to play for twelve minutes! crazy. but regardless of what they said, he played four songs. he seriously did amazing. i was so proud of my boy up there doing his thing and not being scared at all. kyle, you are so talented :-)
after the taste of salem, kyle and i packed up his 2 guitars and his amp and cords and went to my house to hang out. then around 10:50 or so we left to take him back home. well. for the past two weeks (about) i have noticed my car making a strange little clicky noise everytime i pushed the gas. well, it was doing that again, and then we went around a turn and i felt the car sort of power down. then just after we made the turn, the car like, SUPER CHARGED and it felt like something fell out of the front of the car onto the ground, the car just started shaking and making the clicky noise like CRAZY! alright so i pulled off of the street and we just sat there for a second trying to think of what to do. kyle looked at the car and couldn't find anything that had fallen out so he called his dad, and at about that time, a cop pulled up to see what kind of trouble we were having. then the cop turned his lights on and sat behind my car to block traffic until kyle's dad could get there. once his dad got there, he determined that from what he saw and heard that something with my exhaust was messed up, and that it would be safe for me to drive on and take the car home. then he said he'd follow me home to make sure i was okay. then once i began driving, i got a phone call from a number i was not familiar with. i was like, what the heck? what now? it was a guy saying "hey, mary? are you okay? i just drove by you and saw your car." i was like "umm who is this????" he was like "is this mary meyers?" me-"yea....." him-"oh hey, this is linh pham, what's up" haha! for those of you who know lun know that he's just a goober, but i really thought that was sweet of him to also be looking out for me. all of these guys looking out for me tonight makes me realize how blessed i am. anyway... i was able to make it home and all of kyle's equipment was safely delivered to his dad's car. i'm so thankful my little exhaust problem happened when i was out of school for the summer and also when i was not on the highway going 80 mph. i'm so thankful for everyone who helped me out tonight, whether it was blocking traffic, giving me the okay to drive and making sure i'm home safe, making a phonecall, or simply doing everything you can and then just holding my hand and being there for me... each act of kindness is so very appreciated.
