Today's acidic comment, curiosity, and lament

I find myself listening to the radio, hoping for weather reports. Since the local "news" station always runs weather immediately after a commercial break, this activity is where I obtain the majority of my advertisement dosage.
Once again, I heard an ad for Focus Factor, an alleged brain supplement. For the past few years, this ad's catch phrase has been the recording of some person saying, "Free? Well, then it's got to be good!" All I can say is that anyone who's swayed by that reasoning certainly would need a brain supplement.

I was walking to my car in a parking garage when something crossed my path. It was either a ferret, or a rat that would earn its own D&D stat bar. If this was metropolitan Chicago or someplace similar, I suppose that would be par for the course. Being in suburban Redmond, it earns a respectable four millimeters of raised eyebrow.

In a more serious vein, the environment during the first few years of Obama's term is going to make a large sucking noise. Before anyone blames his administration, they would do well to remember the catastrophic rules changes that Bush and his cronies in the EPA are pushing through right at this moment, due to be finalized nine days before Obama takes office. In general, the Republicans' dishonorable attempts to alternately hold the economy hostage for their pathological hatred of organized labor, or use it as camouflage for their environment-busting strategies, have lost them my vote, probably forever. In particular, their environmental and anti-science policies make me regret having ever cast votes for Republicans, which I shamefully admit doing in years past.
