Unfortunately, Dr. Robertson only sees the world
as black and white (nevermind the fact that the
world actually consists of shades of gray). I fully
understand and recognize the reason for the policy of
taking both the ASL lecture and lab together and it's
intention as being one single unit. However, I am one
of those gray areas. The only thing I will get out of
taking American Sign Language I is personal enrichment.
I just want to learn sign language.
I am VERY disappointed in the College of Education. This
situation makes me really glad that I chose to graduate
with a bachelors in psychology and not in education. At
least the faculty and staff in the Department of Psychology
can see reason. However, maybe that is what my problem is:
I do not see the world as being ONLY black and white as
it appears the College of Education does. I just hope our
children don't suffer because of the teachers that come
out of the College of Education at UNF.
So I suppose I shall subside and forgot about getting into
American Sign Language I this semester (even though I KNOW
that any policy at UNF can be waived within reason). I have
better things to do that play office politics with a bunch
of children.
