Interlude

Blacky had debated doing this all week. Even now, as she quietly lurked around the teacher's dorm building, she was wondering if it would do any good or just make things worse. She couldn't stop thinking about Leon's words, that she should do something like this, and she decided that she did miss Flint's company enough that this was worth a shot.

She stopped outside the man's dorm and set a bottle of wine - the very brand and year they had enjoyed together at the rotating restaurant - in front of the door. Written on the label in elegant black script was a simple message:

I still want to be friends.

Not only was there a thief about, but she knew many of the other faculty had a taste for alcohol too. Blacky knocked three times and turned to flee the scene.

Hopefully this time Flint would know who the gift was from.
