In My Life...
The sun is shining! Thank god! It's been raining like crazy here (in case you didn't read kellywong's journal) and Calgary is in a "state of emergency" due to flooding and stuff. However, it was warm and sunny today for my day off so I was very happy.
Well it's been a while since I last updated so let me fill you in. We're entering our fourth week of rehearsals for Shakespeare in the Park and things are going great. I've got a huge schwack of stuff to do in midsummer (lots of dancing and I was made dance captain! I'm now known as the 'dancer' amidst a company of primarily actors... ylll) and it's looking great but Much Ado is sooo different. First, it's a much darker show and it's obvious when you contrast it to Dream. Also however, I'm in three scenes in the whole show (only one scene in the entire second act!) so I've got very little to do in that show but walk on and sing then get the hell off stage. It's still a very good show but a little dull for me at the moment.
The bane of my existance at the moment is my landlord. I want to move out of this crummy room and into a much nicer house with one of the equity actors - however, I couldn't give 30 days notice to end my "lease" here (I've only been in calgary for 23 days so I would've had to give notice a day and a half after I moved in!!). Thus, he's keeping my security deposit (a full months rent - aka, a lot of money) if I want to leave... I've now got to decide if I can afford to take the financial hit or if I should just deal with this mediocre living arrangement...
A little piece of advice from me to you... don't ever agree to live somewhere until you yourself have actually stood in the room.
That's really the extent of my adventures at the moment - oh... to quickly sum up - I didn't have strep throat it was just the dry, dry alberta air... I went to see michael buble and he was amazing... also amazing was Kyle Riabko last night who has toured all over north america and is currently 17!!! And I've got to warm up early tomorrow to be ready for a 'media call' where we're gonna dance for a local news show I believe?
Anyway - this entry has been long and somewhat dull but that is my life right now in case you were wondering. Hope all is well in your respective cities and homes - I miss toronto and everyone in it horribly but I will see you soon...
