Some crazy crazy stories!
Aingarin saved a baby's life. He just finished his second year in engineering but he is interested in medicine and got a job at a hospital. The locals think he's a doctor. One day, he hears people asking for "el doctor"... he's like, shit! But goes out to see what's going on. There is a baby who isn't breathing. There are people playing sports nearby and he asks them to call an ambulance. No one wants to go, saying the telephone is too far. He's like... there is a baby who isn't breathing you idiots... In the end, he had to bribe someone to go. He paid them a dollar. Anyways, back to the baby... He's glad that he's got his CPR recertification. He asks his sister to get his CPR book because he froze but then everything came back to him. He does CPR on the child for a bit and finally, on the last breath, he hears the baby take in a breath and start crying... So basically, in his first week here, he saved a life!!!!
Stef saw a 6 year old girl get hit by a taxi who then drove off. The girl was not OK and though the ambulance came right away... it doesn't look good. If any of us dies on this trip... it's not going to be of disease... it'll be of traffic.
Andreanne and Ali were at a bull fight (where they don't kill the bull) and the bull escaped into the stands. It look about 20 men to get him back... Ali almost shat herself. Also, while watching this show... men made out with Andreanne and Ali's backs. They would feel something behind them and turned around to men fully macking on their necks and backs. Gross times a thousand!
A couple was shot in a bus last week. They were from Ali's village. The woman died and the man is in hospital... likely to survive. Ali went to the wake and asked what happened. After much prodding, the story came out. A few years back, there were two brothers that were kinda trouble makers/crimials in the village. The villiagers captured one... and decided to KILL him. After that, no one talked to the police and everyone knew what happened. So basically everyone in the village has blood on their hands. The other brother vowed revenge and this couple on the bus is the beginning of that revenge. I wonder if the village is going to handle the other brother among themselves as well....
On Friday, when I didn't go to school... we all went on a field trip. And by we, I mean Tara, Dustin, myself and about 20 Ecaudorian teachers. It was supposed to be a surprise but the day before, I ran into Dustin who told me that we were going to Columbia... I still didn't believe him. But come Friday... we get into a mini-bus at 5:00am and 5 and a half hours later... I see "Bienvenido a Columbia". P.S. I should mention that none of the Canadians have our passports because the organization keeps them safe for us. Yeah... Columbia... the place that all travel advisories warn against. We go there and visit a church and then go into town for a bit. Tara and I wander into a Levi's store. Dustin is deathly ill with a fever and stomach problems... poor bunny! But in Columbia, we get stared at a lot because I guess they get no visitors. I do feel rather safe... since there are army men with huge guns everywhere... so if a rando drug lord try to kidnap me... I feel that they would stop him/her. Later, we also visit a really beautiful cemetary on the way back in Ecuador... But yeah, field trip to Columbia... 5 and a half hours there and back to see a church! Crazy!
