Title: About Last Night
Rating: PG-13 (for moderate sexuality)
Pairing: Ben/Mikhail
Words: 300
Summary: Mikhail goes home after a night with Ben.
Prompt:
slashthedrabble "Texts from last night" The text message I used was: "My morning has consisted of lying in a fetal position, eating a whole tub of ben and jerry's, talking to my cat, and setting all of our pictures on fire. Does that answer your question? "
Notes: Slash pairing, obviously. Not terribly graphic
Mikhail kept a steady pace through the jungle, fighting his desire to look back toward the bunkers, to check if Ben might call him back. This time was supposed to have been different, but of course, nothing ever really changed.
The radio crackled and Mikhail turned it off, not wanting to hear the emotionless tones as Ben handed out new orders. He led the horse along the familiar path, too sore to ride. The uneven ground made his legs hurt, but he was grateful for something to take his mind off the situation. Sweaty, his clothes stuck to his skin. His mouth tasted of last night's liquor and the salt of Ben's skin. He cringed, spat and marched on.
The heat was oppressive. For the first time in a long while, Mikhail missed the snows and storms of Vladivostok. Humidity made it hard to draw breath, or perhaps it was the heavy sensation pressing down his chest, his shame and sorrow. Mikhail thought of the sex: upright in the hallway, as opposed to Ben's bed. It had been hard, quick, unforgiving. At the time, he'd thought he should be thankful. He'd mouthed endearments as he'd dropped to his knees, shivered at the feel of Ben's hands in his hair. Now, he felt bathed in regret.
"Nadia," he called when he entered the yard. The cat emerged from the shadows. She followed Mikhail as he tied the horse to its hitching post, then led the way through the long grass as they went into the Flame. Mikhail busied himself with the shower, found a clean change of clothes, thought of Ben and pushed the thoughts away. When he finally settled back on the bed, Nadia curled up near his feet. The contentment of her purring lulled him at last to sleep.
