Christmas and some fannish thoughts
I'm full of Chirstmas spirit this year. Today I've baked gingerbread cookies and listened to a lot of Chistmas music, and I actually had a lot of fun picking our presents for my family last week. Tomorrow I'm having a small Christmas gathering for my friends. I think the Christmas spirit comes partly from working with people who are waiting excitedlf for Christmas, and partly from not having any end-of-semester deadlines sucking up all my energy.
Also, my depression seems to be taking a break at the moment, and that's always nice.
A couple of days ago I finished rewatching Alias Smith and Jones. Or well, I watched all the episodes with Pete Duel as Heyes. I'm not planning on rewatching the rest because the show just wasn't the same after he died. I was really into this show about ten years ago, and it was kinda cool to come back to it. And it's been interesting coming back to the fandom. It's fairly active for such and old show, and a lot of new stuff has appeared in the last ten years.
One thing that surprised me about the ASJ fandom is that there's very little slash. There's just so much potential for it in the show. But then again, I'm not a die-hard slasher int this fandom. The relationship between the characters is interesting enough the way it's portrayed in canon. But that doesn't mean I'd say no to a few more good slash fics if I could find any.
