its been a while (yet again since I have updated).
We just got back from a vacation to Queenstown (in the South Island of NZ). I figured this calls for a joint entry from the both of us...
It all began at friday at midnight when Toni came to us up to head to the ferry that was to leave at 2am. completely exhausted after a day of work, but we made it...all worth it as we pulled off the ferry around 5am for the sunrise.
Then the roadtrip began to head inland from the coast. Completely exhausted after the night on the ferry, but managed to get some amazing views of the Southern Alps (this is the range that goes from the top of the south island to the bottom). This was a typical view pretty much all the way to Queenstown!
After about 6 or 7 hours of driving (well toni and lisa driving and bridget and i napping) we arrived at Lake Tekapo.
After that stop there was more driving and more random stops along the way. Toni and Lisa eventually tire of the driving and pass the keys over to me! MWHAHAHA. My first overseas (ass-backwards) driving experience...and they happen to make me drive through a freaking HUGE GORGE with insane road bends and drops and all sorts of things! I even managed to handle a ROUND-ABOUT!!! silly things. luckily there are no pictures of this insane adventure.
We stayed at a hostel down by the lake...awesome views. This is me...by the lake. (brilliant intro)
my cutie by the lake (mwhahaha made her say it)
On one day we ventured up to the top of the gondola and played on the luge.
This is the view from the top. This is the steepest gondola in the southern hemisphere, or pretty damn close!
Another view...
Another day's adventure involved a drive up to Glenorchy. Pauses along the way, which we think was called sunshine bay.
lisa, toni and me, holding up bridget...sheesh. ;)
(bridget note...no i am not as heavy as i look, jules is just weak)
(jules note...pfft. i was falling!!! i'm tough damnit)
(bridget note...mmm biceps. thanks)
This is the winding road on the way there...
Bridget (damn isn't she cute) playing on the pier after breakfast and trying to avoid getting back into the car and being subjected to more of toni's chick music! :P
We had this thing for some unknown reason, but we had to jump on every bridget hahahaha i mean bridge we went on...(bridget note: i don't do group jumping on me sessions unless it pays well enough).
Also for some unknown reason, i felt the need to ride all animals in statues.
Then on brilliant idea (bridget note..IT WAS MINE. grin) we went rafting. I mean for someone who is afraid of heights and trying to avoid all the bungy jumps and other air craziness (aka jules) sounds like a good idea right?
HAHAHAHA. no.
We get on the bus. but no one tells you that you have to take a BUS through SKIPPERS FUCKING CANYON! PFFFFFFT. We get to the front of the road....and this is the sign.
I will post a better one when i find it, but it essentially says:
*car are not insured on this road!
*caravans and trailers are not a good idea
*no exit
so what did we do? oh ya, right the tour takes our MINI BUS and TRAILER WITH 6 RAFTS on this freaking road! Cliff drops of up to 100 meters with a two way road the width of the bus, BARELY. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. DIEEEEEEEEE! (bridget note: my thigh still has little bruises from jules' grip!)
We rafted down here...now this was actually the fun part.
can you find us? haha i bet not.
maybe because we didn't purchase the pictures cause they were like a bagillion dollars...soooooo we took a picture of the pictures hahahahaha how cheap!!
bridget and toni at the shotover pick up place (yeah yeah, out of order, shoot me)
I almost fell into an unfenced area!
The trip all in all had amazing weather...except on the last day we when we were suppose to be taking the ferry home...all ferries were cancelled due to swells in the Cook Strait of up to 9metres!!! Too bad, so sad, we couldnt go back to work. BOOOOOHOOO. But for some unforsaken (aka the pilot was drunk - thats the only reasonable excuse i could come up with) and decided it was a good idea to cross when they were at 5-6 metres!!!
We spent most of the ferry back trying not to fly out of the ferry and not be sick.
you can't really understand how bad it is until you go into the bathroom and it reaks of puke, toilets are plugged, there are no sick bags left, and old people are falling down and injured!
check out the movement!! this is not even showing now bad it is. ignore the sunshine its rather deceptive!
