Victor was being a wandering bug, a new set of pink scars on her neck. She stood on one foot, wavering, listening to the music, silent and... not quite still because she had bad balance.

He shifts into a chorale without missing a beat. He hurt a lot, the bloody bandages on his otherwise bare chest displayed that rather openly, and the music was keeping the pain at bay. He doesn't notice Vic, at least not for a while.

She closed her eyes so she wouldn't see the bandages and the blood attached to them, because they were making her stomach feel wobbly. The music helped her unwind, uncoil most of her nervousness.

The music finished and he looks around. He smiles. "Hey, where'd you come from?"

She opened her eyes, grinned at him, and stumble-walked in his direction. Despite the blood. She'd be brave. "I was around. Good to see you."

"You too. What've you been up to?"

She rubbed at the scars on her neck absently. "Nothing much. I'm a hero now." She was trying to keep it pretty secret, but this was Dark Link and J already knew so she thought it should be even.

"Oh, really? What sort of heroing do you do?"

"The smaller things. Muggings, abuse cases, robberies."

"Always a good place to start. Been able to keep yourself safe doing it?"

"I have a partner and gadgets and I've been training so I'm a little stronger now. Armoring, too. As much armoring as I can fit."

"Sounds like you're having fun doing it." He smiles.

[victormakesart]

She smiled back at him. "I feel like... like I'm worth something, for the first time in a while. I'm doing something good."

"That's got to be a good feeling."

He's being deliberately vague with this one.

"It is."

She scuffed her foot along the floor. "How've you been?"

"I've been arguing with myself," he says, indicating the bandages. "I think I won, though."
