Rang De Basanti

So finally I got to see Rang De Basanti. After two weekends of trying at PVR and Inox I managed to get tickets at Rex.

Although they've overdone it in places, I'd say it's a good movie overall - much better than what I hear of other Bollywood movies these days. It was a little melodramatic at times, but at other times the dialogues were very witty. I didn't like the ending. And I thought everybody in the audience was laughing their heads off for little reason - at things which could have been considered a spoof on them. But I liked the way the movie was done. Rather impressive. And it helped that the music was very good.

Next up on the cards is 15 Park Avenue. I've heard good reviews about it.

Update: I saw 15 Park Avenue on DVD. The theatres have stopped showing it. Nincompoops - probably want to show Jawani Deewani instead. But please do watch this one. Aparna Sen (direction, screenplay and story) is stupendous. Konkona Sen Sharma has acted very well. At a point when you are wondering how the movie would close, expecting an open (perhaps abrupt) ending, you are left with with a stunning impression. Wrapping up very finely the theme of reality that the movie spins around, the end is supremely masterful.
