--I suppose it's progress that my brain has shifted from going blank when I try to think of anything but linkspam to post to having thoughts on things I want to/should post but not managing to actually do it. This is closer to a normal state of affairs, although the frustration of it is a bit more keen, too; I'm all too familiar with having an utter lack of focus, and I hate it.
--The temperature dropped drastically this weekend and spent a lot of time around the -9°C/15°F (-17°C or so with wind chill) mark--just in time for our friend group's annual Christmas tree-slaying excursion yesterday, which involves going to a tree farm and cutting our trees, wandering around a historical farm museum (which means time outside; this year Ginny and I opted to hide out in the gift shop, which has seating and heat), and taking over a small restaurant in the area.
scruloose and I have our tree up, but I don't know when exactly we'll get the ornaments up. Today
scruloose was putting the lights on and found that one of the three new strings of lights is defective, so that'll have to get replaced before decorating the tree can proceed. And the replacement won't be happening tomorrow, because we have a snowfall warning calling for 15-20 cm of snow (although our area's usually on the low end of the forecast amount). So
scruloose's day also included making sure the snowblower is working well (it is!).
This year's tree is named Gansey.
--I spent the bulk of today at Ginny and Kas' place watching Yuri on Ice, the plan being to watch as much as possible before we collected
scruloose and went for ramen. We got through nine of the current ten episodes before we had to leave, which isn't ideal, since I gather episode 10 turns a lot of stuff on its head.
I don't have much to say about the show at this point. It hasn't reached out and grabbed me by the throat or the heart, so while I'm enjoying it well enough, right now I'm mostly glad to know what basically everyone is talking about. (And very interested to see what happens in ep. 10, which I may be able to watch tomorrow.)
--On a related note, I keep forgetting just how inexpensive a Crunchyroll subscription is, but it's only about $7 Cdn./month, and I really ought to subscribe. (Fortunately for my wallet, none of the
Premium+ membership benefits appeal to me.) I don't know how often I'm likely to use the service (so very little of my media-consumption time goes to anime or manga these days), but then, it's not as if I watch much at all on Netflix, either, and I'm glad I have that.
