My tattoo appointment starts in just over three hours, and I have no real idea how long it'll last (or cost). A few hours, probably?
(As you might extrapolate from this, my consult last Thursday went well.)
How I'm preparing for Tattoo Day (which includes a lot of food talk, because Toronto):
--I got up early enough to a) have tea + Toronto!Mom's homemade peach pie for breakfast (look, I got to use my peaches icon!) and b) wash my hair. Re: the latter, any other time I'd leave it until we get home tomorrow, since my hair hates Toronto water. (I've been lucky this trip--today will only be my hair's second wash this trip because it's been holding up so well. [Adding "shower cap" to my packing list helped.]) But if I don't have to wash my hair again for a few more days, that'll be a big help with not getting the tattoo too wet in the shower.
--I'm planning to hit up Holy Chuck for lunch just beforehand. Holy Chuck is pretty handy to the studio (by Toronto standards), and someone mentioned having been advised to have a hearty meal before their tattoo. (Sabs, was that you? I feel like it was, but I've been talking about tattoos to a lot of people this week.)
--I've got my stress ball (the
zombie virus from ThinkGeek) and earphones packed, and this morning I had the possibly brilliant idea of listening to a cat purr via a noise generator. I didn't manage to find a great app for that purpose, but I've made sure to have the link to
myNoise handy on my phone. (Still need to remember to remind
scruloose to have reading material handy, since this is sure not gonna be exciting for him.)
--I remembered to bring a fresh tin of Tattoo Goo to Toronto. It's what I used on my previous tattoos, and that all went fine, so
scruloose and I ordered some more when he was getting his tattoo done, but his artist advised against it (it has tea tree oil, which apparently is not a good idea for everyone), so we've just had it on hand. (Although as I'm typing this, I realize I should make sure it doesn't have an expiry date or anything.)
--I've managed to keep my to-be-tattooed arm sunburn- and bug bite-free.
--We have tentative (depending on how long it takes, how long the window of time is before I have to take the wrap off the tattoo, and how I'm feeling after it all) dinner plans with Cow, who lives within reasonably close range of our Toronto home base, knows of a tasty-sounding spot we haven't been to (
Chino Locos), and is able to be flexible about timing/whether dinner is actually managed.
That's everything I can/could think of. Now I just need to get through the part where I get the tattoo.
