--Metric concert Wednesday night! I...have failed completely at listening to more of their catalogue than was already in my playlists, which means I'm more familiar with their later work than the older stuff, and only really know (the first half of) Fantasies and an erratic scattering of other songs. Oops? ^^; Anyway, it turns out a few people we know are also going, and since it's open-air/not assigned seating,
scruloose and I will at least meet up with
wildpear's husband (possibly other people too, but no plans AFAIK).
--Tomorrow (barring catastrophic sleep failure, which kept me home twice last week >.<) I'll finally be halfway through my 20 extra days at Casual Job. I can't quite believe it's taking me this long, even though I'm perfectly aware that I've been busy with manga work and that we were in Ontario for two weeks. I really, really want to finish this month, despite the fact that my freelance schedule looks a bit intimidating.
--I still haven't decided what to do about the rest of Penny Dreadful, but I have
Genevieve Valentine's Salon article about the finale open in a tab while I dither about whether to read it and find out how bad things got.

wildpear was here last night for our first chance to hang out normally in ages. She managed to read the last novella in Rise right before coming over (which she managed by skipping straight to it despite not having read all of the earlier novellas, so she did get a bit spoiled for The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell and Please Do Not Taunt the Octopus; she got held up when The Day the Dead was published a couple years ago because she wasn't sure she felt up to reading about a catastrophic zombie outbreak in an elementary school, especially given that Pumpkin was so close to the same age as the kids in the story), so I finally got to talk to someone about it in person. *fidgets* *fidgets* *fidgets*
ohmyheart
Also, during her visit Madoka Magica crossed my mind (via comment notifications from
thatyourefuse's post), and it occurred to me to ask
wildpear if I'd ever showed it to her (or if she'd ever seen it any other way, but realistically, I'm the reason
wildpear's seen nearly every frame of anime that's crossed her radar, AFAIK). She's never seen it. *_* I need to fix that.
[ETA: When I asked if she'd seen Madoka, she wasn't sure from the title alone. So I gave her the litmus test of asking if the word "Kyubey" made her recoil in horror. It did not. And so.]
