It was the first day of a long weekend (insofar as I can say that when I'm only freelancing rather than at the office and not attending any religious services), and it was dull and gray outside, so I decided to take the day off and read.
In practice, this means I read Natalie C. Parker's Beware the Wild and watched two episodes of The Americans with
scruloose. I think we're just over halfway into season 1 now, and I'm really enjoying it. ^_^ (Technically we meant to watch one episode of that and one of Breaking Bad, but Netflix was being flaky, and The Americans is on DVD, so it got a second episode. Fine by me! I'm...glad to be seeing Breaking Bad, and what all the fuss is about, but it's still very slow going for me. Not liking any of the characters at all makes it hard.)
But since
scruloose opted to spend part of the day being productive and doing some organizing in the garage, I decided I wanted to do something at least mildly productive too. So I spent a little while pruning the DVD collection, although not as aggressively as I technically could (and really not all that aggressively at all with the anime >.>). I may do another round of it after I consider shows like Castle that I'm fond of but have wandered off from and will probably never rewatch (I think we have five seasons?) or things like Battlestar Galactica, where I have a soft spot for the first half (which is all I own of it) but have mixed feelings about ever watching it again. Main argument against: my grumpiness about the second half colors my feelings on the first half. Main argument in favor: STARBUCK. *sparkly hearts* And so on, and so on.
At any rate, there are a couple of people I should run the culled-DVD titles by before donating the heap, so even though
scruloose and I plan to run errands tomorrow that include dropping off an eclectic assortment of hopefully useful-to-other-people things for donation, the DVDs probably won't go just yet.
Among the things that we'll clear out are--brace yourselves--the few boxes of books I pruned from the shelves back when we were about to get the cats. Yes, those boxes have been in our living room for over two years now. Tucked mostly out of the way, but still.
