The week of ALL THE TV begins! And being at work was good, but so is having tomorrow off

Jan 21, 2016 23:30

We were originally supposed to get hit with the snowstorm that's making its way up the east coast, but more recent forecasts suggest it's going to miss us, giving us only flurries. Here's hoping. >.> Good luck to everyone who's actually having to deal with it!
I successfully avoided spoilers for the first two Agent Carter episodes, which
scruloose and I have now seen...just in time to have to start avoiding spoilers for The 100. (The season premiere credits are probably rolling as I type this sentence.) Hopefully the S3 premiere will go up on Netflix (Canadian Netflix) tomorrow, continuing last season's trend of next-day access.

I'm really looking forward to seeing The 100's premiere (and even if I were only somewhat inclined in that direction,
megsaysthings's gleeful/terrified fannish ecstasy at its return would be contagious!), but I suspect it won't surpass my joy at having Peggy Carter on my screen again. I adore so many of the Marvel ladies (so many feelings about both Jess and Trish, especially!), but Peggy is top of my list.

(The combination of these shows is almost succeeding in keeping me distracted from The X-Files' return happening in just a couple of days. I'm grateful for that! The emotional dance of "I don't dare assume it'll be good" vs. "Please please please please please be AMAZING! Scully! On my screen!!!" is a hard one.)
Being back in the office for a few days this week was nice. ^_^ (Other than the fact that a co-worder having health problems is part of why they were short-handed. :/) Getting to work with Ginny a bit more=extra awesome; the pressure was much lower than it usually is at Casual Job (since we're between sessions and the office is keeping standard hours); and I got to do transcription work instead of proofreading, which is a fun change of pace for me. And I'm glad that our boss is having both me and Ginny back again for some proofreading work next week (unexciting reasons), because more income=definitely good, and it's more low-key hours + working with Ginny as well as most of the full-time folks.

(How much time I spend in the office next week depends both on how much work there actually is/how long it takes us and on how long the half-volume manga rewrite that's due next Friday takes me to do. It's my new VIZ series, so I have no sense yet of how much time I'll have to put in on it. OTOH, the first chunk of that first half is done already, because my editor needed that bit a couple months ago, so it's really more like 1/3 of a volume that's due a week from tomorrow.)

But that said, I'm really glad that I'm staying home tomorrow. I'm in serious need of a good night's sleep (*fingers crossed*), and being home means I didn't need to spend tonight on the freelance work that's due tomorrow and essentially done but still in need of a quick polish. And the geeky former co-worder who's now on the verge of being a full-fledged lawyer is coming over to hang out in the evening, and it'll be good to see him. ^_^
It feels funny to say that my Feed reread is going slowly, since "rereading my favorite book, which I've read a handful of times before" seems like it should be a faster than usual read. But I know where it's going, so there isn't the drive to find out now. The only reason I wish it were going faster is that I can't shake the residual "but you could be reading something new!" guilt of the TBR bookcase looming over me (almost literally, since it's essentially right beside the couch, where I do 99% of my reading!).
