I can't remember if/how much I've talked about trying to buy more books digitally.
Right now I'm still buying hard copies more, but basically I'm comparing prices at Kobo and if I don't already have most of an author's prior books/all of a series' prior books in hard copy, and the digital price is noticeably lower, I'm defaulting to getting the ebook. So far there are a couple of things I bought in ebook that I kinda wish I'd gotten physical copies of. a) A mermaid anthology that I'm still working through (since I read short fiction very intermittently), that has one of Seanan McGuire's more recent mermaid stories, would be nice to have tangibly, and b) Six of Crows, which I got in ebook because I have the whole Grisha series that way (of which I've only read the first), and I gather Six of Crows is connected in some way, but the hard copy looks awfully neat. :/
That's all a prelude to saying that I really need to make a spreadsheet of the books I own digitally, because it's SO easy to lose track.
Speaking of reading, there're just over two months left in 2015, and so far this year I've read 43 novels/novellas (not counting a few rereads), only a couple of which have come from the library (maybe only one). So I suspect next year I'll be sticking with the "read almost entirely from the bookcase of purchased books" plan. Or more realistically, for all that I love the library, at this rate that should probably just be the plan going forward unless/until I come close to catching up on the things I've actually bought. >.>
Other stuff:
--No paperwork has been signed yet, but yesterday one of my editors offered me a new series to adapt. ^_^ (Wow, I seem to have hit the point where I don't always mention that anymore. O_o I guess that's a sign of...something.) It's not one I'm very familiar with, but I have reason to think it'll be fun!
--Today Ginny and
scruloose and I are going to look around the cat shelters (we have at least three in a cluster in one of the industrial parks, probably because the rent in the back end of Dartmouth is more affordable than elsewhere) to find her a second cat, now that she's in her own apartment. I only really clued in yesterday that this might not mean bringing the new cat home today, because Ginny'll have to fill out an application and whatnot, and I don't know how long the shelters take to process those.
scruloose has never been to an animal shelter before, what with a) never having had pets before Claudia and Jinksy and b) his work schedule meaning he hasn't gone the few times I've gone to cuddle kitties with
wildpear and Pumpkin. And even the best shelters can't help but be heartbreaking, seeing all the cats caged and dealing with it as best they can. ;_;
Anyway, my plan is to take my work material and Lincoln, and if a new cat comes home with Ginny today, I'll go work over at her place this afternoon. ^_^ (I haven't actually seen Ginny's Daisy since we all came back from Toronto in early July and Daisy went to stay with our carpenter friend for the duration.)
...and I'm sure there was at least one other thing I meant to mention, but it's fallen out of my head.
