There's an awesome thing (...from our POV) happening this summer! It's Ginny's news, not really mine, but I've checked with her and am free to talk about it (in a public post, even, so that she can direct people here if she hasn't been able to tell them herself yet).
It is my pleasure to announce that Ginny's arrival in Halifax this week will mark the beginning of her final visit to our fair city. (She's currently planning her packing for this trip, and our weather is haywire, but when she complained about not having any idea what clothing to bring, I got to point out that it's the last time she'll have to think about it!)
To our delight (and undoubtedly the dismay of many beloved people in Toronto, with which I sincerely sympathize :/), Ginny is moving here this summer.
There are no dates nailed down beyond "July". Right now the gist of the plan is that she'll move all of her things down here and put most of it into temporary storage, and come stay with me and
scruloose while she sorts out/finalizes things like "finding a place to live" and "getting a job". (Her cat, Daisy, will be staying with another friend here for the duration.)
Now you know. ^_^
(For those of you--Torontonians, mostly--who remember the days when I used to campaign to get people to move here, this isn't even my fault, in that respect! I've become much more careful in recent years about only making serious attempts to import my friends if I'm very sure they'd really like living here, rather than just because I personally want to see them all the time. Ginny was always on my mental list of "people who're too rooted in living in a bigger city/Toronto", so I was ecstatic but as surprised as anyone when she started talking about moving here "someday", and then about moving here "some years down the road", and especially when suddenly that became "I'm going to move THIS SUMMER". I believe we have
trouble to thank for finally telling her, in effect, "Look, you love the people here in Toronto, but you obviously want to be living in Halifax. So move to Halifax." [Because
trouble is a wonderful friend. It's not like she won't miss Ginny too. :/])
