--The kittens are a year and a half old. I can't believe we've had them for fifteen months or so already. Our charming, fluffy adolescent predators! *^^* They're such glorious housebeasts.
--I have such an urge to get a festive bowtie for Jinksy. I'm not positive he'd tolerate it better than Claudia, but it's possible, and bright Christmas colors would stand out more dramatically against his fur anyway. Alas, I don't know where to get such a thing. (I mean, I'm sure the internet would provide, but I haven't actually looked into it beyond checking at our pet supplies store.)
--Tonight was Leverage night, and we managed to fit in two episodes instead of one! Kas,
wildpear, and M continue to be appropriately charmed, as they all were after the pilot. This is especially a triumph with M (
wildpear's husband, and I should really ask him how he wants to be referred to online these days; it's not as if he utterly lacks social media accounts). I'm fortunate in that I have several friends whose tastes I can predict well enough to make media recommendations, but M is not traditionally one of them. He tends to like things I enjoy reasonably well, I guess, but that's not the same as "YES, THIS IS AWESOME", which is much more the reaction Leverage is getting. ^_^
--I didn't get a start on baking today, but I did fall into various food blogs and recipe sites last night, so now I have a bunch of newly-saved Christmas cookie (and slow cooker) recipes to sift through. I'm somewhat tempted to change my Christmas baking approach this year and mostly try new recipes, which in practice probably means "make chocolate spice cookies" and otherwise try new ones. I probably can't justify more than four batches, I'd guess (
scruloose isn't nearly as fond of sweets as I am, so sometimes cookie consumption can go slowly), unless I take freezing dough into account. On the one hand, freezing dough is an excellent idea. OTOH, I only just baked up the last of last year's chocolate spice dough last week. (It was also the first time I'd baked any up in months and months, mind you.)
(BTW, one of my December meme topics is dessert recipes, so I'll link to my various favorite Christmas cookies when I tackle that! I'll try to make that one happen soon in case anyone wants to use any of the recipes.)
I have a cookie press that I think was my grandmother's, which I could--*gasp*--actually use. (It's either my grandmother's old one or my mom's old one; if the latter, that means Mum has Oma's old one.) I'll poke around for press cookie recipes, but do any of you happen to have any that you swear by?
Right now I guess I'm thinking chocolate spice, (soft) chocolate gingerbread (okay, that'd be a recipe I've made before, but not for a few years), something lemony, maybe those bar "cookies" that're essentially peanut butter balls but made in one pan and cut up as squares, press cookies, non-roll-out sugar cookies...and that's six already. La?
--Tomorrow I need to do a final read-through on the first script that's due this week, adapt a large chunk of the second one due this week, and email Fluevog (which I meant to do on Saturday >.>). With any luck
scruloose will get the lights on the still-unnamed tree; whether we put ornaments on may depend on if we go over to Chez
wildpear to help decorate their tree (Pumpkin expressed hope that people would come by). And then
wildpear will come here to hang out. Whew! ^_^
And oh, yeah, I have December posts I'm supposed to be writing. *g*
