Alert levels: high! (Not for bad reasons, I hasten to add.)

So far, today feels like a day of keeping an eye out for things, even though in practice it's been more about petting the kittens and reading through the next volume of My Love Story!! so I can start adapting it.

First:
wildpear and I are keeping a close eye on Sarah Rees Brennan's LJ, in hopes of the final (?) part of The Turn of the Story making its appearance. Monstrous Affections, the anthology that has its sequel story, is out today, so our hopes are high (although
wildpear has wondered at me if we might be getting the anthology earlier here than in Ireland, which could be affecting SRB's choice of when to release the TotS chunk).

(In an odd development, the Chapters/Indigo shipping notification I got today only included one copy of Monstrous Affections, even though I ordered copies for both of us. I guess whichever warehouse shipped it was down to only one copy...? [Yes, I verified that I ordered two.])

Second: autumn is well and truly in the air now, which means my brain has done its usual thing of remembering my BPAL collection. I've been doing a really good job of not buying more imps in the last couple of years (my spreadsheet indicates that my most recent batch of 'weenies is from 2011, although I did get four Yules last year), but the Hallowe'en and Yule updates are always, always when I'm most tempted.

Naturally, the next thing I knew I'd logged on over at the BPAL.org forums for the first time in months and months (it's been far longer than would be accounted for by that long period when the forum was down completely), and was briefly excited to see that there's a Weenie Stalking Thread up for this year...but unsurprisingly, it's 45 pages long and has been going since July. *g* My favorite seasonal updates are shared by many, many people.

I'm still going to try to resist temptation this year, especially since "my" decanter isn't doing it anymore, but in the meantime, my spreadsheet says I have 43 'weenie scents (a few of which are repeat scents from different years), so I could be revolutionary and actually try wearing one each day.

To that end, right now I'm wearing Punkie Night 2010, the notes of which are "apple orchards, bright cranberries, and a touch of warm cider". Claudia was most intrigued and tried to lick my arm; Jinksy just looked mildly confused when I put my wrist under his nose.

*refreshes LJ fruitlessly just in case SRB has updated* *sighs* *sniffs arm for comfort*
