*side-eyes the Toronto weather*

Since I got to Toronto, it's mostly been cooler than usual for this time of year, I think. And on the warmest days, it's mostly been much more humid than I like (and I loathe humidity). Overall, though, it's struck me as more "slightly weird" than "bad ( Read more... )

Those of us of advanced years, hem-hem, remember when this was Toronto's usual. Just as the last week in June is statistically always hotter than it should be, so back in the 60s and 70s the first or second week in August regularly provided a few days of mini-autumn. Can remember having the furnace on occasionally, with lows of 5 or 6. Usually this was followed by your regularly scheduled 25 and 26, if not a heat wave (35 by definition) just as school started. This year has just been weird temp-wise: much cooler than normal, no heat waves to date.

I was at work all day but somehow remember it as being iron grayThe sun shone? How nice. (Sunday* was perfect. The sun shone.)

*shivers* Weather is WEIRD.

Yesterday it was sunny when I got up around 9, and it stayed that way for at least a little while longer, but I don't remember when it went gray.

I always think of August as the doorway into autumn, as we do get some cooler weather, especially mornings and evenings. Even the middle of the day feels different; and when we do get the heat and humidity, I can bear it, because I know that relief is on its way. :)

I suspect when you are wearing fleece and shutting the windows, I am still happily puttering about in shorts and a t-shirt, and throwing the windows open as widely as possible. It's one of the benefits of age. ;)

Yeah, I don't love it. After the cold-as-balls winter we had, I was looking forward to some lazy heat. I got it in Seattle but I was mostly hiking there, not sitting on patios in a sundress.

Heat without humidity. Is it so much to ask?
