Kittens, work, and movie-watching

Thank you to everyone who left happy comments about the kittens' birthday! *^^* I really appreciate the collective willingness to be so delighted about them with me. Nine months, and I'm still just overwhelmed by joy at having them.

We "celebrated" the occasion by a) not inflicting the dreaded mostly-but-not-always daily grooming on them and b) contemplating whether we might be able to get a bird feeder or something for them, for outside the living room window. I think their enjoyment of it would outweigh the frustration of not being able to get at the feathery prey. Jinksy would probably just treat it as (exciting!) bird TV, but oh, Claudia would get such a kick out of it. Our little huntress! She would so love to be an outdoor cat. (And it is so not happening.)

I guess one year is around when they stop being widely considered "kittens"...? But they still act like such kittens, albeit giant galumphing ones. (And IIRC, Siberians don't hit their full growth until they're around five years old, which is an odd contrast when they also apparently hit reproductive capability just enough on the early side that delaying having them fixed isn't a good move.) Realistically, I'm always going to call them kittens in some contexts--Jenny, the last cat I had with my parents, was still a "kitten" to me when she died at nineteen--but I suppose I'll transition to usually saying "cats" at some point. ^^

...wow, I really need to turn some more recent photos into basic icons.
We had an extremely quiet day today, which is fine, especially since I had a fair bit of work to do. But it was lower-pressure than I was afraid of, because
wildpear came over for a while yesterday and sat in my office and read some High School Debut while I worked, and that helped me focus, weirdly, so I got quite a lot done. So today I finished my draft on vol. 2 of [redacted] for VIZ, took care of its trouble spots and filled in its flashbacks, and then read through vol. 9 of Haganai, which is up next. (Tomorrow I'm not going to the office in the name of seeing our GP in the morning and the dentist in the afternoon [both routine] and doing a final read/polish on that script so I can get it in.)

And otherwise today consisted of catching up on Orphan Black and reading the last third or so of Dreams of Gods & Monsters (from which I went straight into Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, which...is causing some whiplash). Actual downtime! I hardly know what to make of it.
It's one of those strange times of year when I realize over and over again that there are multiple current movies that I want to see! We saw Days of Future Past last week, and this week we're going to see Maleficent. Given the need to rewrite Haganai in the span of a week (not sure what the odds are that I'll make it to the office every day this week after tomorrow :/), and the fact that I'm debating seeing The Fault in Our Stars (which would probably be next Tuesday--yay, cheap movie night!), I don't know what the odds are that we'll make it to Godzilla in theatres.

I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars (it's on the list...), so that makes me hesitant about seeing the movie--I tend to prefer seeing the original version of something first and risking not liking the adaptation, rather than seeing an adaptation first and then discovering that I like the source material better and becoming retroactively annoyed [see also: the Fruits Basket anime]--and the book itself seems to be more divisive than most other YA I hear talked about a lot, which makes me think even more than usual that perhaps I should make sure to read it first. Or it may just come down to time constraints. We'll see.
