I don't have much to say about the season 5 premiere, but since I'm writing a bit about episode 2, I feel like I should at least lead in with a few notes on episode 1. ( 5x01 )
I pretty much gave up on making sense of Warehouse 13 plots in the episode with Lovecraft's key, because the antagonist's otive didn't make sense. Like, dud, there is a law that could have been used to prosecute those people, so why did you jumpt straight to the murdering?
Actually, having looked it up, because the case in the episode was somewhat similar to one I'd heard of where the people ended up in prison, the law is "non-assistance à personne en danger"/"duty to rescue" and apparently doesn't exist outside of France, Germany, Russia and Serbia, which strikes me as kind of fucked up. There are countries where it's legal to let someone die? Like wtf?
I mean, I guess the plot of the episode does make more sense now and it is a very hard thing to prove, but come on! This is culture shock in a bad way for me. /no one cares
