Home again, home again
We're home from retreat, and the last day is always bittersweet. It was a wonderful time, and cathartic for several people (not for me, this time out, but it was good, and I have things to ponder), and everyone parting ways is hard after being in close quarters and bonding and having fun for those few days. Ginny heading home immediately afterwards didn't help so much--she's on a plane already. :/
On a frivolous note, putting on actual pants after spending three days wearing nothing but pajamas is rough.
But now we're home to our kittens, and our own bed and shower and all that jazz. And
seolh is clearly the best kitten-sitter ever. They're as rambunctious as ever, and have obviously had enough company and pettings that they're content (and not particularly needy or extra-cuddly or anything with us, although they seem pleased that we're home), and
seolh sent us updates and photos on a daily basis. Some of the photos are really good, too, so I'll have to see if she minds me uploading/linking them. ^_^
Things that came home with me: a handful of blank cards from Kas' Cards Against Humanity set, because while we were all playing the other night ( here's a favorite winning combo from that game), some ideas came to mind. *g* I've made notes. And I meant to have Ginny fill the cards out, because her handwriting is far better than mine or
scruloose's, but clearly I'll have to find someone else, since she's gone. (;_;)
I expect to spend the week basically holed up here in my office. I have two rewrites due next week (one is halfway done), I'm hoping to get a few more fills done for Porn Battle (I've posted two, but I figure I'll just link however many I wind up with once it's over; neither are on AO3 yet, either, because I'm thinking I'll upload the set as a chaptered work), and I have those few remaining blog posts I want to write.
And then there's the whole aspect of "Hi! I'm massively introverted and have just spent ~four days in close quarters with fifteen other adults and four children!" Much as I loved being there and spending days in front of a constantly-lit fireplace, I may also need to not speak to another human being besides
scruloose for a week or so...
...except not literally, because I want to at least get in some hanging-out time with both
wildpear and Kas, and since Carpenter's girlfriend is currently visiting from Far Away and I want her to meet the kittens, they may be over either this week or next week. And
wildpear and I have plans--deadlines permitting--to take Pumpkin to the reptile zoo late in the week. Because we have a reptile zoo. *starry eyes*
(Unrelated, but every time anyone mentions/plays/whatever "Hurt", whether they're thinking of Nine Inch Nails or the Johnny Cash cover or whatever, I can't help thinking about this performance of Caught a Lite Sneeze, for Tori's blatant response to it towards the end. ^^;)
