I know several of you are in or very familiar with the Bay Area. Help?

I want to go into revisions on my "hiring Dave" Newsflesh fic in the next few days, which means I finally need to deal with the fact that swathes of it are highlighted because I need to fill in some data or do heavy editing. (Benefit of having an electrician for a husband: I can talk out a scene involving an electric fence and figure out which parts are logistically impossible. The downside of that: I sent the initial draft over to
wildpear with whole chunks of it noted as "don't even bother doing more than glancing at these for context, 'cause they've all got to go!")

Flist(s), I turn to you for help!

I need to choose a town or community (maybe a population between 5,000 and 20,000 or so, but that's not terribly important) in or around the Bay Area that roughly meets the parameters I have, if at all possible (but obviously I'll rewrite if/as necessary!). Do any of you have a nomination for said town or community? As it stands, I'm looking for a place that is, from least to most important:

a) roughly a three-hour drive from Berkeley, preferably but not necessarily along a coast;

b) either hilly or simply not-flat enough that one could reasonably find a driveway steep enough that the house it leads down to isn't clearly visible from the road but isn't suspiciously obscured;

c) a plausible candidate for being abandoned after the zombie apocalypse--meaning, in the Newsflesh-verse, not in possession of enough survivors and/or valuable enough resources and/or a strategic enough location to warrant ongoing maintenance and defense when there are other places it'd make more sense for people to relocate to.

Can any of you think of a likely spot?
