A few weeks ago I asked at what point people became fannish about Haven. I was on 1x09 or 1x10 at the time, and reassured when a couple of you said it was the S1 finale that sucked you in. At that point, "finish season 1 of Haven" was on my "to-do before Casual Job resumes" list. At this point, I'm one episode into season 4 (current season!), from which you can safely conclude that I started finding it a lot more interesting. ^_^
I wouldn't say I'm feeling fannish about it; I don't know if I'd be fannish about it anyway, but the odds are reduced by the fact that I'm more intrigued by the premise and worldbuilding than the actual characters--most of whom I like just fine and enjoy seeing on my screen, but I haven't fallen for them.
(I'm pretty sure I've heard that Seanan really likes the show, and given the premise and how a lot of it has played out, I can see how it would work well for her. It's exploring the concept of identity in some interesting ways, which is a recurring focus in her writing, although handled very differently.)
Anyway, it's a good sign about the show that I've kept meaning to post about how I'm watching it...but then deciding that I'd rather spend that Haven-focused time watching it. Also, I don't have much else to say about it right now, but I'm glad to be nearly caught up.Speaking of stories dealing with identity,
wildpear is coming over tonight and we'll probably get through another episode or two (hopefully two!) of Orphan Black. We're only one episode in so far, so things are just getting warmed up! And I very much want her to get to Alison and Cosima so she can really see Tatiana Maslany in action. ^_^
(Orphan Black is a fine example of a show I love deeply but am not fannish about. I was careful to mention that to her, because most of the stories I want to share with her I am fannish about. Just...not all of them.)
