Little things (Butter chicken! Icons! Awesome actors! Pretty smells!)

We don't appear to be directly in the hurricane's path, and by the time it gets this far north it's apparently going to be down to a tropical storm (which is the usual way of things). I don't envy New Brunswick, though, and I hope everyone down in states it's hitting stays safe. :/
Last night's butter chicken outing was a smashing success. Oh, happy mouth. It was only our second visit to this restaurant (the first time having been during their opening week), and my reaction to good food* is apparently memorable, at least in combination with my sporadic willingness to chatter away with strangers (so weird): we walked in with my in-laws, and the waitress took one look at me, nodded, and said "Butter chicken and naan!" And indeed, butter chicken and naan were had by all but
scruloose, who had something spicy enough to make up for me and his parents not being very ambitious on that front.

*Said reaction basically boils down to bouncing happily in my seat like a toddler on a sugar high. ^^; I've never claimed to have any dignity.

Fringe love=icon shuffling. As usual, this meant spending far too long assessing my icon collection, and my standard weirdness about having a bunch of free icon slots just in case. (I had something like...29 free slots? And since I picked about 22 new icons to upload, I felt the need to go through and delete a similar number first. *eyeroll* I'm always a bit sad about not being able to bring myself to use all of my DW icons slots [250] because I can't match them on LJ without buying extra a la carte icon space. Maybe I can work up to that. ^^;)

Being caught up on Fringe means that, in addition to not having to aggressively dodge spoilers, I can finally check out fanvids and read articles and stuff. I'm finally learning the cast's names properly! I mean, I knew who Anna Torv was, obviously, but beyond that I had no idea which names went with which characters; my usual spoiler avoidance was in high enough gear for this show that I didn't even want to hit up the IMDb. And now I get to follow links to things like this interview where Jasika Nicole (Astrid) talks about living and working in Canada as a gay American actor. (Excerpt: "On the final day of our journey, our most dreaded day, we pulled up to the Canadian border. My previous complaints about Canada had been superficial, just childish ridicule that made me feel important and cool. But now I was older and wiser and less interested in bragging rights and more interested in civil rights. I had no idea what my same-sex relationship would mean in Canada, or more importantly, what it would mean to the Canadians." [Spoiler: On that front, she finds Vancouver a distinct improvement over NYC.])
I'm not at all ready for summer to be over, but I'm looking forward to autumn anyway. (As I probably say every year, it'd likely be my favorite season if it weren't followed by winter.) Any day now the BPAL Hallowe'en update will go live, and even though I almost never dig into my scent collection (which is alarmingly large, given that), I expect I'll fall in love with half of the scent descriptions on the spot and wind up joining a decant circle. I think I haven't gotten anything new since last year's Yule update, but I have no illusions about my willpower for those two updates. I've read descriptions of some previews, and they sound lovely. Mmm. But every year I manage to buy fewer, in large part because some scents get revisited often and I already have older versions from previous years.
